In #Sustainability and #heatpump stories. 2.5yrs ago I bought a tumble dryer with a heat pump. Today the engineer informed us it was completely broken and a new heat pump would be £300 more than the dryer cost. We haven’t made our money back on this. I feel cheated.
I feel like every day now, I read/hear something saying "We don't talk about what's POSITIVE about masculinity; what's GOOD about men and boys." So: what IS the best stuff about boys, and men? Honest, celebratory question.
My eldest son just bought his first pair of DMs and when I laced them for him, I was informed that my lacing was a bit centre left. How you lace your DMs determines your political leaning? This led to a discussion about cargo and corduroy trousers. #holidaychat

@nuclear94 Maybe better procurement rules for maintenance. As I don’t know what contracts currently look like it’s hard to say. I guess if car parks are paid to have chargers they don’t care if they work.

@nuclear94 Thanks Jeff. I can’t decide whether it is a grid issue or a lack of ability to deliver charging points or consistency. It feels like we are pretending the situation is much better than it is. I did not expect it to be so bad.
Minding my own business at WGC station waiting to come into London when this absolute beauty came past. What a privilege.

Off to York with Sir Nigel Gresley today. Lovely to travel behind an ‘A4’ on its stamping ground again. This is also the first time a ‘Streak’ has been at KGX since September 2018.
‘The 8 billion people alive today represent 7% of all the people who have ever taken a breath’ 🤯
The world population passes 8 billion today. How big will it get?

@DdraigGoth It is and we’ve been close to this before. We were saved by CCYC if you can call it that last time. The cost in Cardiff is just monstrous. I will do what I can to help.
@DdraigGoth Do you think folks may consider moving out of the city? Perhaps Cwmbran Leisure? I know how painful this process is, I will ask around for non-leisure places but it’s the insurance that kills it then.
I’m with Hannah on this. Even if you don’t like the idea of climate change (who does) we have polluted every waterway, our air kills people early, wildlife is being lost at a terrifying rate, our soils are being sterilised and our forests disappearing. We need less of this.
@guynewey At one U13s match my husband and other parents were sent to the car park by the ref. The child playing in that game went in to get a job reffing Powerleague 5 aside and said it is absolutely the worst job ever. Parents are very competitive. Less so the kids.
This year I have been bagging trig points with my Welsh Sheepdog Morys in memory of my Dad who died in 2019. We’ve done 52. Anyway today, on a bit of a busman’s holiday I took him to look at #porttalbotsteelworks he wasn’t sure about the whole thing. #EnergyTransition#fuelswitch
@MtCO2e The folks on the Falklands will be able to confirm this but I’m pretty sure all the mines have been removed. They had a party to celebrate in 2020. The rest is still true!
A morning panel @UKHouseofLords for #NationalEngineeringDay with @RAEngNews was a lot of fun discussing energy and access to engineering. Followed by an afternoon in @IMechE, both allowed me the opportunity to catch up past team members. Manager for life!
