public school instructional coach. Still on a mission! “Good thing I didn't accomplish all my goals yet because then what would I do tomorrow?” ~ Alexi Pappas
When kids cheat on assignments it is because they have been taught that grades outweigh the importance of knowing things.
We need to fix this.

"When does learning move from a privilege and one of the great beauties of life to a threat? The threat of change. The threat of seeing things in a new way. The threat of being perceived as wrong… The threat of who we will have to become?
It's not easy. It might take longer than you expect. There will be days you question yourself and wonder if it's worth it or if you are on the right path. Trust your gut. Pay your dues. Work hard (and smart) and eventually success will come.
@MrOrr_geek@MakeMathMoments@MathletePearce I keep going back to the idea of, "Tell less, ask more." I feel that this is such an important concept for educators as it is so easy to just give the information/answers we want to hear in order to move a lesson along without allowing for student thinking or curiosity.
The next time you’re facing a challenge, instead of thinking through the worst thing that could happen, ask yourself a different question: What is the best thing that could happen?
I used to think the volume of the classroom dictated the quality of the teacher. I now know learning can be loud and can be messy. Loud classrooms aren’t necessarily managed poorly and quiet ones don’t always indicate learning is happening.
Before explicit instruction … I always like to see how my students solve problems by themselves . Sometimes, I even steal some of their strategies . I love their determination and grit .
It’s funny, my shirt is by @lululemon and I love their clothes, but it was a gift because they are not quite in a teacher’s budget, and they don’t offer a “teacher discount.” And they call their employees “educators”👀
RT this if Lululemon should have a discount for teachers.🤷🏻♂️
Moderately releasing control to students over newly learned tasks gives them the time needed to process information and practice skills. ✨
