The script is so tired:
Any time we say its obnoxious for men to try to pigeonhole women into the roles of wife/mother, inevitably tons of the stay-at-home mom’s get super defensive and cry, “What’s wrong with being a wife and mother?”
And of course the answer is that there’s nothing wrong with being a wife and mother. I’m a stay-at-home mom myself. Our work is valuable!
But that’s not the discussion we are having.
When’s the last time you heard a right wing celebrity shame a man for pursuing work outside the home? Do we tell them society has lied to them, that their children will suffer if they pursue architecture in addition to fatherhood? That they’re rebelling against created order?
No, you do not.
Until very recent history, both men and women completed the bulk of the work within the confines of the home. The Industrial Revolution pulled men out of the home, and THATS when the family breakdown began- not when womenfolk got it in their ladybrains that they might have something else to contribute, too.
Read @NancyRPearcey’s book that talks about this. Do your homework. Just stop trying to cram women into cages and then feigning surprise when they resist.
people don't talk about the fact that because the joy of motherhood is loving other humans more than you ever thought was possible.... the flip side is how much pain is possible in motherhood. no greater joy, and no greater pain. to love is to be vulnerable.
Just a reminder that Mary Oliver’s own answer to her question, “What is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?” was to stroll idly through the fields noticing things.
The question out of context could appear to be about achieving more — it’s not.
Christian media for women that emphasizes that the only relationship that isn't disappointing is with God/contentment and love can only really be found in God really normalizes the idea that husbands are disappointing and women shouldn't expect much from them.
A Master Class on Failed Leadership: With a massive budget surplus at hand, Abbott is holding teacher salaries hostage amid massive inflation in a state that had 50k teachers leave their positions last yr & ranks 41st for school funding. This is not about kids, evidence, or the future of Texas - this is about how our democratic system is corrupted by a few radical billionaires demanding vouchers despite any grassroots support. @MomsAGAbbott@TexasAFT@txstateteachers@DianeRavitch@pastors4txkids@DisRightsTx #Txlege https://t.co/hJeEpYd36L
boy math is when he does the oil changes and snow shoveling and she does the cooking and laundry and he decides they have equal workloads because they both do two chores
Parents,
When you meet your child’s teacher in the coming weeks, be sure to hug and thank them. I guarantee if you were to drive by any school right now, you would find 10+ cars in the parking lot.
Teachers are tirelessly working off the clock to perfect every little detail so that your child has a wonderful school year.
Teachers, you really are incredible and you make the world go round.
Thank. A. Teacher.
Pardon my redundancy but-
We can’t keep demanding teachers are trained in everything, are skilled in everything, can skillfully meet 30 different little human’s needs… not pay them accordingly and then wonder why there is a teacher shortage
When people come into my mentions and say that the majority of gun deaths aren’t these mass shootings, but gang violence, accidental shootings, and suicide…
Is that supposed to make me feel better? Am I not supposed to care about that?
WATCH: “…it wasn't mental health that killed these people, it was an automatic rifle. I'm a gun lover. I have guns. I'm a former police officer. I’m a former Army officer ... prayers won't bring these people back. We need action in our legislatures.”
YOUR GOVERNOR IS LYING TO YOU, TEXAS.
I’m so close to adding this man to my Canvas course, like ALL PARENTS are.
Parents have unlimited access to public school curriculum and can opt their children out of anything they see unfit. The opposite of private schools.
Only 1-4% of Autism Speaks' budget actually goes to autistic people and their families for support (they are more interested in trying to prevent us from existing).
Meanwhile, their executives make ENORMOUS salaries, some at more than $600k a year.

I told my students I invited @GregAbbott_TX to come visit our class and they are VERY excited for our gov to visit and see our hard work. Public Schools are, after all, under the control of the state, which has been run by Republicans since 95. Are you not proud of YOUR schools?
