@adbrooks_rhseld I wish!!! But, they could present their background knowledge they learned to their group. Add to each other’s knowledge! Getting them teaching each other would be pretty cool!
@adbrooks_rhseld You could just have them get a firm grasp on context and characters. Ex if a text takes place in Harlem, or Pakistan, or addresses anxiety have them dig deeper and locate 2-4 facts to build background. Choose one thing they may not be very familiar with a research it a little?
@adbrooks_rhseld You could have them determine 2-3 key topics in the text. Then, make real world connections btw text and current events. Or how issues are represented via visuals like @StatistaCharts or Turners Graph of the Week. Groups could teach each other about their text too! Rambling...
