I agree with this position. No family should be deported after living here legally and working in high skilled jobs just because one of their children has Down’s syndrome. It’s cruel and a breach of Australia’s treaty obligations
I just asked Tanya Plibersek in Question Time why she approved 116 Santos gas wells in the middle of a climate crisis. Her response was to launch into a rehearsed tirade against ‘the Greens political party’, bringing up the CPRS 🙄& defending the new gas wells as an 'expansion'
The climate doesn’t care if it’s a new project or an expansion - any new coal and gas will contribute to dangerous global warming.
The approval of the wells was released at 4:55pm on a Friday afternoon so it’s clear that Labor knows it’s an unpopular, indefensible thing to do.
#WorldWildlifeDay is a day of awareness that we must act every day aware that wild nature is what keeps our planet healthy and alive.
Say NO to habitat destruction, fossil fuel pollution and the worsening climate crisis.
“We must end this war on nature.” - @antonioguterres
Australia is the only country I know that gives a three fold tax break on Super, on contributions, on earnings in the fund and on exit that are skewed in favour of the wealthy, that costs the budget billions per year. Reasonable to ask whether this can be justified?
Save Bargny Day 862
Bargny is a city in Senegal that has been dealing with the pollution of a coal plant for years, forcing people to move, creating climate refugees.
It is now uninhabitable and neglected!
Climate criminals @TotalEnergiesUG, @CNOOCUgandaLtd and @GovUganda took me to court but using the state @ODPPUGANDA has failed to produce witnesses in my case. I have been to court 4 times since my arrest in December but the case has failed to start. Drop all charges.
I remember when our manufacturing sector was intentionally destroyed by the investor class, in order to force the American people to buy poorly made imported goods that did not last very long.
Constantly replacing poorly made things is good for the "economy".
@MumClimate Good news but unless climate change is addressed, it is just another meaningless gesture from the Australian government that also this week approved 116 gas wells in Queensland, operational until 2077.
Approving new gas and coal projects in Australia demonstrates a complete disregard of a safe future not only for Australians but future populations around the world. .@AlboMP@tanya_plibersek@Bowenchris - so no to new coal and gas projects in Australia. #isayno
Labor have plenty of levers they can pull if they are concerned about renters. Happy to swipe at interest rate rises but hide behind inflationary reasons for doing nothing themselves. Rents are high bc landlords can get away with it, little to do with interest rates.
