@HippyMomPhD I would say good literature is ageless but my kids were still into these up to 6/7. Also Charlottes Web - an absolute classic and the language is gorgeous
Coverage of @SAfoodforlife and their work to put more beans on school menus as part of the #GlasgowFullofBeans Campaign has been covered in the @Glasgow_Times.

@JohnSwinney@theSNP I think it could have been explained better why it was important to vote SNP into a Westminster government. I donโt think a lot of voters saw the point
The peace you are looking for is in the work you are avoiding.
I live in a picture-postcard New England village. Just up from the town common. My house was built in 1865. What other people overpay for, for a week in the fall, is how we live full time. But I did not seek this out.
When I decided to move out here from Iowa, I wanted a low maintenance lifestyle. An apartment in repurposed industrial space in the Merrimack Valley. Real hipster nonsense. The housing market had other ideas. Rent was too damn high. Buying a condo was twice as much per square foot as houses.
I started looking for a house, but I was outbid on every offer. Even the one I made an offer on sight unseen. All of them well above asking. I accepted that I would have to rent and keep looking. Then the deal fell through and they asked to use my offer as a backup. Which is how I ended up here.
Many in my community are older. I found it difficult to make inroads. Even as I have the sense that if people my age do not step up the local culture will fade. I have found attending church, going to meetings, joining clubs, and volunteering all to be worthwhile. Being a good neighbor and integrating into the community. Still there is so much more I could do.
One of the things that erodes our peace of mind, is the uncertainty created by not taking action, on things we know we could take action on. We procrastinate and pace ourselves. When we should just do what is in front of us. Not necessarily what we want to do, but things that need doing. If I have had any career success, it is attributable to doing things no one else wants to, and a decent work ethic.
People think they just want to be happy. But what they really want is wholeness, connection, and meaning. A sense of fulfillment that comes with living purposefully. If you want to find purpose, go to a cemetery, and look at the headstones. Besides a name, you will find roles that person fulfilled in life. Husband, father, soldier, priest. It won't say how they felt about themselves. It is how they showed up for others that is remembered.
They took responsibility and did the work others were avoiding. These are just a few of the paths to give your life purpose. If you choose not to follow them you had better have something in your life meaningful enough to make up for it. Most of our passions are not unique enough to give context to our lives.
When asked about retirement, people list a handful of leisure activities and little else. Nothing you could build a life around. Because they just want out. My retirement plan is to find important work to do, that goes undone because you can't earn a living at it.
Life is long, if you use it well. But we are always going through the motions until the next weekend, holiday, or vacation. We will look back someday soon, and it will all seem to have been very brief. On that day we can feel a sense of peace. Or see the work we were avoiding.
@Stella_Assange I still donโt understand- they can just lock someone up without a trial, and then retrospectively say oh yeah youโve served your time now, youโre free? Isnโt that the opposite way round to how it should be?
JULIAN ASSANGE IS FREE
Julian Assange is free. He left Belmarsh maximum security prison on the morning of 24 June, after having spent 1901 days there. He was granted bail by the High Court in London and was released at Stansted airport during the afternoon, where he boarded a plane and departed the UK.
This is the result of a global campaign that spanned grass-roots organisers, press freedom campaigners, legislators and leaders from across the political spectrum, all the way to the United Nations. This created the space for a long period of negotiations with the US Department of Justice, leading to a deal that has not yet been formally finalised. We will provide more information as soon as possible.
After more than five years in a 2x3 metre cell, isolated 23 hours a day, he will soon reunite with his wife Stella Assange, and their children, who have only known their father from behind bars.
WikiLeaks published groundbreaking stories of government corruption and human rights abuses, holding the powerful accountable for their actions. As editor-in-chief, Julian paid severely for these principles, and for the people's right to know.
As he returns to Australia, we thank all who stood by us, fought for us, and remained utterly committed in the fight for his freedom.
Julian's freedom is our freedom.

@poojaasanwal You left out all of life admin, chores and food prep that is required to do each of these things. Once you factor that in, one of these things a day is a good achievement
Farage's target of zero net migration relies on the idea that there is a large pool of low-skilled British workers ready and willing to be deployed into crucial sectors to replace immigrants. But there is no such pool. The UK is at full employment and has been for some years. 1/
For the last 14 years as an NHS doctor, I have watched this party, these governments, savage the NHS into a crumbling shell of a once great institution. Deliberate, calculated, shameless destruction.
Only one thing to say. Please, if you still want an NHS, do not vote Tory.
