Well, I guess you can call me a law changer! Today, the Victims, Witnesses, and Justice Reform Bill passed - critically with an amendment to make court transcripts free for rape survivors. This is something that’s come directly from survivors’ pain and I couldn’t be more proud.
“From council estate to parliamentary estate…”

She’s a great British success story whose legacy reaches way beyond Westminster.
Angie will continue to inspire generations to come. 🌹
#NHSPensions appalled at the inefficiency of your service. Applied In good time in May to get my pension when I am 60 next week. Spent 15 mins on phone today and was cut off. Then spent 20 mins on phone and told I won't get my lump sum or pension for another 50 days!!!
Survivors of rape who are brave enough to come forward shouldn’t have to face insults or harassment by their attacker’s friends and family. I’m deeply disturbed to see an advocacy group for convicted rapists doing exactly that. It has to stop.

Appalling. 53% of Rape Crisis centres at risk, 14,000 survivors waiting - and still no funding secured for next year. Providers should be focused on care, not battling to stay open.

This is a revelatory, chilling. must-watch documentary featuring a woman it was my privilege to represent, the former MP Kate Kniveton.
Not just for the abuse Kate suffered, but for the post-separation abuse that kept her locked in years of court proceedings.
This documentary outlines there is no typical survivor of abuse and no-one is immune.
Kate is not alone. Many distinguished, professional women are trapped in the same cycle.

@ObserverUK@chloehadj Brilliant piece. I loved and was an advocate for the book even though a few in my book club were sceptical. Thanks Chloe for your investigation into it. Really makes you wonder why the publisher didn’t verify the story.
The UK spends 10.8% of GDP on welfare while France spends 23.8% and Finland spends 25.7%
Just remember that when you see #GBNews, the #Mail and #Sun and the likes of #Harwood, #Tominey and #Pearson demanding benefit cuts.
In the space of ten minutes Amy Hunt and John Hunt have given the most sensible overview on violence and misogyny than any of the UK Government has over the last twenty years

"It’s consistently a system that prioritises the perpetrator". A powerful and brave interview with John and Amy Hunt, which exposes how both the justice system and the media can re-traumatise victims. We must do better — for Carol, Louise, and Hannah. https://t.co/S20tRJICd9
69% of rape victims withdraw from the justice process - it's hard to comprehend.
Over 500 trials already listed for 2028.
More than 65 for 2029. This isn’t just a backlog - it’s a justice system so broken, survivors are walking away in despair.
@BBC Victoria Derbyshire #Johnandamyhunt I am so moved by the dignity and eloquence shown by this family. Their courage is amazing and they embody the meaning of love.
@finding_hope_2 I'm so glad you've been able to say this today. I was raped when I was 21 and I'm 59 now. I published a book 'The Reality of Rape' under my maiden name, Jenny Cooke. You might find it helpful. It's for sale from Survivors Voices, Amazon and Waterstones.
Best wishes jenny

@NicoleCaroli1 Really sorry to hear this Nicole. You deserve to be treated with respect and not to feel judged by someone who clearly has no real understanding of what you have experienced.
