Remember when 4% test positivity was a big deal? 90% of BPS students (per most recent estimates we have) now live in a >4% neighborhood.
***76% live in a neighborhood over TEN percent.***
Three quarters of BPS children. Three out of four.
Boston is not OK.
"The issue is these buildings and a lot of these schools have not been paid attention to and public education as a whole has been defunded year after year," said BTU member Michelle Caine. "The problems that has caused are becoming much more apparent."

Speaking of inventing metrics, I'm calling this the BR1 Unofficial Neighborhood Impact (BUNI) Metric. It's neighborhood test positivity rates listed by largest % of BPS students living there; rates >4% ("threshold of concern") are in red.
This...isn't good.

Pushing schools in high positivity zones to remain open without consideration for the safety of our highest-needs students and without resources from the state to be able to do that doesnt help to keep anyone safely in schools.

On Nov. 1st at 7PM, “New England Workers for Biden / Harris” will bring together union members and leaders from across our region and nation. #1U RSVP here for access to Sunday's live stream: https://t.co/GXai1RCVug
In light of Michael Loconto’s insensitive remarks last night and previous actions, Boston educators agree that his resignation is necessary and appropriate. Racism in all forms has no place in Boston’s School Committee, or anywhere else in our society.

You did not invest in making schools safe for our highest need students. My students of color are already at higher risk not withstanding the fact they have disabilities. You made a calculated political discussion and decided you are okay with their sacrifice. How embarrassing
Tuesday's action is to EXPOSE. Educators from across the city are sharing the unsafe conditions they are currently working in. Make sure to check out all of the photos on our Facebook page. #SafetyFirstBPS
Today's action is to SIGN & SHARE. Sign the petition to @marty_walsh to demand that he honor the MOA language by transitioning to full remote learning and work with the BTU to create a plan that ensures high quality and safe instruction for HIPP students.

Want to take a quick and easy action to keep BPS students and staff safe? Add your name to this petition telling the district to honor the agreement they signed! #safetyfirstbps

We will make sure our students taking the bus have school busses with windows open to ensure #SafetyFirstBPS for our highest needs students. We have determined that was indeed a lie
Safe schools mean using unbiased data to drive public health decision-making. Scientists don’t use citywide averages that tell only part of the story. Zoom in for the receipts. #SafetyFirstBPS@BTU66
If it's "safe" for teachers of high needs students to be in the building, why aren't all the Bolling Bldg offices open? Did I get that wrong? #SafetyFirstBPS
#SafetyFirstBPS This pandemic is disproportionally affecting our Black & Brown students & so are the decisions of @MartyForBoston & @BCassellius We passed 4%, we’re in the red as a city & state, & Dorchester is over 9%! When will it be enough? #bpschat
BPS needs to start contract tracing and making data available to families so they can make informed decisions on whether the schools are safe. There are positive CoVid cases in schools that aren’t shared. Stop lying to our families @Marty_walsh @BCassellius #safetyfirstbps
All the #safetyfirstbps tweets are heart-wrenching. All Boston parents should be aware of the conditions in our school buildings. Safe schools have *at least* proper windows, hvac, soap, hot water, clean water, pest control and, in this day and age, proper PPE.
