The free exhibit Enterprises of the Human Spirit is on display in @USask Place Riel! It's part of a national initiative to mark the 50th anniversary of Gerhard Herzberg’s Nobel Prize in Chemistry. @Moments_Canada
In April 1919, the final game of the Stanley Cup finals between the @CanadiensMTL and @SeattleKraken (Metropolitans at the time) was postponed because of an outbreak of Spanish Flu. When was the series resumed and who won the 1919 cup? Answer on Thursday!
(1/2) Banting and Best conducted many experiments on dogs in 1921. In order to cause them to become diabetic, they would ligate the pancreas and then administer their experimental doses of insulin.
This part of the story of insulin can be a difficult topic to approach today.
Doug Ford has done everything to make school reopening safe, according to Doug Ford. (This offer not good for smaller class sizes, though.) https://t.co/iAQKXKr4sC
.@OntarioSafe member @Joyhenderson78 today in @TorontoStar:
"Why Ontario’s Minister of Education, Stephen Lecce, has patently refused to fund smaller class rooms & rejected @TDSB's plan to make all class sizes smaller is beyond my understanding...

This is not accidental. It is deliberate chaos.
“School boards must adhere to funding agreements with the Ontario government which means class sizes will remain the same despite the student opt outs” #canlab#onted#COVID19#Onpoli https://t.co/qY81MMTlRF
Whatever political leanings you have, framing #BackToSchool fears as a crusade by teachers unions vs govt is shameful and unhelpful.Teachers DESERVE safety & respect for their vital role in our society & EVERYONE deserves to be safe. #Respect#SaferSeptember
I've worked from home for nine years. I don't need #paidsickdays for me, I need them for everyone in my community so they can stay home when they or their kids are sick. What protects them, also protects my family. #publichealth is about all of us.
#SafeSeptember#onted#onpoli
.@fordnation is again asking parents to keep kids home with any symptom, but this govt isn't taking steps to enable parents to do that. Illness isn't new, and neither is this problem. Without sufficient #paidsickdays we'll have sick kids in the classroom. #UnsafeSeptember#onted
This is beyond offensive and is yet one more example of this governments attempt to deflect and distract from the real issue their lack of leadership in planning for a #SafeSeptemberON and refusal to fund a real plan! #oecta#osstf#aefo#etfo#onted
Ugh. People are making fun of this girl because, I guess, she *sounds* vapid, but the truth is, she's asking genuinely intellectually curious questions about math! Calculus *IS* abstract! And higher level-math isn't rooted in the tangible world. These are great questions to ask!
Thread: “But look: elections have consequences. This is the leadership our province chose. Nobody can have seriously thought Ford et al were going to be pushing resources in the direction of public schools and teachers. It’s a shame.”
Ontario’s school opening plan is not a “strong plan”. It’s a weak, incomplete, under-resourced plan that continues to be improvised 25 days (thanks to delay) before school opening.
"While 62% of parents do intend to let their children return to school in September, fewer than 30% thought it was safe to do so, and only 27% said they trust the provincial government."
