Ozzy Osbourne is officially a genetic mutant.

In 2010, the Prince of Darkness became one of the first rock stars to have his entire genome sequenced. Researchers at Knome Inc. analyzed his DNA to uncover how he survived decades of extreme substance abuse that would have killed most people.

The results were astonishing. Osbourne carries hundreds of thousands of genetic variants never seen before in humans. Most notably, he possesses a rare mutation in the ADH4 gene that allows him to metabolize alcohol far faster than the average person. Paradoxically, this same mutation makes him six times more likely to develop alcohol dependency.

The parents of a 7-year-old boy who weighed 255 pounds at the time of his death are facing second-degree murder charges in the United States.

Authorities have described the case as extreme medical neglect.

Damien and Jessica O’Brien were charged with second-degree murder, child abuse, and torture after their son, Casper, died in Flint Township, Michigan.

When emergency responders arrived at the family home, they found Casper in critical condition. He was pronounced dead shortly afterward at a local hospital. At just over four feet tall, he weighed 255 pounds. The official cause of death was dilated cardiomyopathy (a form of heart failure) made worse by severe morbid obesity.

Investigators described a shocking pattern of long-term isolation and neglect. According to Genesee County prosecutors, Casper and his 5-year-old sister had never attended school and were never registered with child protective services. Despite having health insurance and a stable income, the parents reportedly took Casper to a doctor only once in his entire life.

Police found the home in a state of hoarding. Prosecutors called the parents’ actions “willful and wanton misconduct” resulting from extraordinary and systemic neglect.

Dollar General manager shot, killed by customer over $1.58 hamburger buns

A Georgia Dollar General manager was shot and killed after police say a customer opened fire during a purchase that totaled just $1.58.

Investigators say 44-year-old Alexis Hill was working Tuesday morning when a man came in to buy hamburger buns. He handed her two crumpled $1 bills. As she straightened them, police say he stepped aside, pulled out a gun, and shot her.

Hill was pronounced dead at the scene around 10:45 a.m.

The suspect ran from the store but was tracked by officers a short time later near Baker Plaza Drive.

Police say he opened fire again, shooting an officer and a K-9 named Havoc. Officers returned fire, killing him.

The injured officer is expected to recover. K-9 Havoc is in stable condition but will need surgery.

Police identified the suspect as 33-year-old Jerome Willis. A motive has not been released.

Hill’s family says she was a devoted mother of three. Friends remember her as positive and hardworking.

“She’d make you laugh. She loved that job, and she worked her entire butt off,” a friend said.
