In the spirit of transparency and accountability, I appeared before the Senate's County Public Accounts Committee chaired by Hon.Senator Moses Kajwang at Bunge Towers, Nairobi to answer to queries raised by the auditor General for financial years 2020/2021 and 2021/2022.
We sufficiently responded to raised queries by the Auditor General.Prudent management of resources in my administration's top most priority.
I also seized the opportunity to demonstrate to the committe how we have utilized the little resources allocated to our county from the National exchequer.
Present included Deputy Governor Prof.Grace Cheserek, Senators William Kisang(Elgeyo Marakwet), Samson Cherargei(Nandi), Richard Onyonka(Kisii) John Methu(Nyandarua) ,Mwenda Gatanga Mo Fire(Tharaka Nithi) Fatuma Dullo(Isiolo) and Okoiti Omtatah(Busia).
I was also accompanied by County Assembly Chair select committee on public accounts and Investments Alfred Barsulai and vice chair Salina Kimito, CECs, CO and technical officers from the Department of Finance.
Efforts towards sustainable environmental conservation is a collective responsibility that requires a concerted effort.
Today in morning, we held discussions with @NETFUNDkenya officials led by CEO Samson Toniok to chart a way forward towards the rehabilitation of forests in both farmlands and gazetted in our county and conservation of Cherangany Eco System (Water Towers) through a new program from the Italian Government christined "Restoration of the Cherangany Forest Eco System for improved livelihoods".
We will partner with Netfund in enhancing our conservation efforts and improving livelihoods through interventions such as establishment of model nurseries (fruit trees, exotic and Indigenous species), value chain e.g honey production, bamboo production etc, protection, rehabilitation and conservation interventions, clean energy (Bio Gas for house holds and LPG for schools), improved cooking stoves from sustainable cooking technologies, sunstainable financial mechanisms through Cooperative societies, strengthening capacities for CFAs and RUAs, Sustainable land Management rehabilitation, supply of tubes to youth, women, PWDs (Special Groups) and Community Based Organizations(CBOs) among other interventions.
The 4M Euros 💶 program will be implemented in Elgeyo Marakwet and West Pokot counties.

We were privileged today to host the European Union 🇪🇺 Ambassador to Kenya, Her Excellency Henriette Geiger who presided over our County’s International Women's Day celebrations in Iten.
We took the opportunity to reiterate our commitment to championing the rights, inclusion and empowerment of our women and girls.
We also pledged to continue advocating against harmful practices like FGM and Gender Based Violence that are eroding the gains being made in women empowerment.
Further, we requested the Ambassador to facilitate our County's collaboration in development with EU member countries under the EU-Kenya Economic Partnership.
I was joined by our Women Representative Caroline Ng"elechei, Marakwet East MP Kangogo Bowen, Deputy Governor Prof Grace Cheserek, representatives of our development partners and government officials.
It was a great Sunday as we hosted our President H.E Dr. @WilliamsRuto and his Deputy H.E. @rigathi for an interdenominational prayer at Iten Grounds.
I am grateful for the Head of State for having brought us good news as far as development is concerned. He had earlier in the morning commissioned our 80 bed ultra modern Mother and Baby Unit at ICRH.
Among the projects and programs announced by the President to be initiated in our County include;
●Establishment of a military training camp in Kerio Valley beside the ongoing shifting of security personnel to the banks of River Kerio to tame bandits.
●Disarmament-All guns in the hands of civilians to be mopped up.
●Establishment of Kerio Valley and Kolowa Sub-Counties. This will take government services closer to the people.
●Resumption of the construction of Arror and Kimwarer and other small dams to increase food productivity in Kerio Valley through irrigated agriculture.
●Construction of Kaptora, Cheboen, Embobut, Singore and Kipchukukuu dams and others across the county in order to increase water provision to our people and enhance irrigation.
●Revival of Tot-Kolowa Irrigation Scheme.
●The establishment of a Sh400 modern market at Iten.
●Completion of stalled learning institutions which include;Chebara Boys, Chebara Girls and Chebara Primary School.
●Reopening of Flourspar Mining Company which will create employment to our people. The President announces that an investor ready to inject Sh4.4 Billion has been identified.
●Construction of 2000 affordable houses in our County.
●Compensation of people whose lands were taken away to pave room for the construction of schools and other government institutions.
●Infrastructural improvement of Kipsoen Technical Training Institute for it to be upgraded to a National Polytechnic.
●A new price of milk for our farmers. The New KCC will now pay Sh50 per litre as from 1st March.
●Employment of more teachers in Kerio Valley through an affirmative action to ensure that learners in the area can cope up with the rest across the Country.
●Last Mile Connectivity-More houses to be connected with electricity after the government allocated Sh650 Million for the project in the County.
●Completion of various roads across the County.
● Resumption of construction of Kamariny Stadium and improvement of Iten Sports Grounds.
●Construction of County aggregation Park.
