Soooo excited and amazed by this community 🤯 Thank you @NJIMedia@joshshultz@Imperiale@jerburroughs@kristiecromie and many others for partnering with us to make this a reality for so many moms who may not be able to afford a great meal on Mother’s Day!
The deepest social problems have never been solvable with secular solutions, nor will they ever be. Only the power of Christ and the Gospel can achieve reconciliation, peace, and justice between Jews, Greeks, and every division they represent.
Our racial divide is a disease. Human remedies won’t fix it; they merely mask the symptoms for a season. What we need is a prescription from our Creator based on His Word to destroy this cancer before it destroys us all.
But to the church, the sex ethic & the justice ethic are a whole cloth. Sexual immorality and injustice go hand in hand because there is a unifying principle that unites them. In Jesus, we see one who had ultimate power and privilege sacrificing it in order to love and save us. 3
To our modern ears, this sounds like a contradictory mishmash of liberalism and conservatism. And today the church is being fragmented by progressives and conservatives who want it to only serve one of these commitments and discard the other. 2/7
Thread: The early church was marked by a deep concern for the poor and for racial equality (Gal 2:10; 3:28). At the very same time, it taught that sex was only for within a mutually self-giving life-long covenant of marriage (1 Thess 4:3-8; 1 Cor 6:12-20). 1/7
A disciple is a person who has decided that the most important thing in her life is to learn how to do what Jesus said to do. . . . Disciples simply are people who are constantly revising their affairs to carry through on their decision to follow Jesus. — (Dallas Willard)
Any gospel proclamation and spiritual formation project that doesn’t include justice can hardly be the gospel Jesus proclaimed.
Contemplation must lead to action, justification to justice, faith to works, proclamation to demonstration, liturgy to liberation.
“We should be astonished at the goodness of God, stunned that He should bother to call us by name, our mouths wide open at His love, bewildered that at this very moment we are standing on holy ground.”
(Brennan Manning)
“Our Christian destiny is, in fact, a great one: but we cannot achieve greatness unless we lose all interest in being great. For our own idea of greatness is illusory.”
~Thomas Merton, No Man Is an Island
Don’t let your faith become a subsidiary of your sociopolitical ideology.
Too often we only follow the parts of the Christianity that are approved by conservatism or progressivism. That’s backwards.

The “slippery slope” has two sides. One runs to the left, the other to the right. The goal is not to be progressive or conservative, but to be truthful.
Pursue truth at all cost.
