Privileged to address the National Conference on AgriStack under the Digital Agriculture Mission and Mission for Aatmanirbharta (self-sufficiency) in Pulses in New Delhi today, in the presence of Hon’ble Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan ji, Ministers and senior officials from the Union and State Governments.
Highlighted Nagaland’s progress in AgriStack and Farmer ID, along with our unique challenges relating to terrain, traditional land holding systems, shifting cultivation and absence of land records. Also placed Nagaland’s priorities on pulse seed security, region-specific crops, rice-fallow & Zaid cultivation, and market linkages.
I deeply appreciate Shri #ShivrajSinghChouhan ji’s personal initiative and commitment to ensuring the proper and effective implementation of schemes and programmes through critical review and close monitoring.
Requested that the specific requirements of the North Eastern hill States be suitably accommodated for the Missions to deliver meaningful benefits to our farmers. @Neiphiu_Rio@MyGovNagaland@AgriNgl
Had the privilege of attending the 97th Annual General Meeting of the ICAR Society in New Delhi today.
Took the opportunity to raise key issues concerning agricultural research, education and extension in Nagaland and the North Eastern Region, including:
• Establishing a National/Regional Institute for Hill Agriculture & Climate-Resilient Farming, preferably in Nagaland.
• Establishing Colleges of Horticulture, Fisheries, Natural Farming & Food Technology in Nagaland under the CAU framework.
• Strengthening recruitment and infrastructure of all 11 KVKs, including the ICAR Nagaland Centre, Medziphema.
• Expediting new KVKs in the newly created districts.
I urged ICAR to accord greater institutional priority to Nagaland’s farmers, youth and immense agricultural potential, in keeping with the unique needs of our hill agriculture. @Neiphiu_Rio@ChouhanShivraj@icarindia@MyGovNagaland@AgriNgl
Today, I had the privilege of visiting Uncle Yanphamo Humtsoe, a remarkable 104-year-old centenarian, and Aunty, his gracious wife, a nonagenarian, at their home in Wokha Village. They are the beloved parents of my esteemed colleague and friend, Shri Y. M. Humtsoe, Hon'ble MLA.
Meeting such respected elders is truly a blessing. Our elders are the living custodians of our history, traditions, and values, and deserve our deepest respect and gratitude. I pray that Almighty God bless this wonderful couple with continued good health, peace, and happiness. May they remain a source of inspiration to their family, the community, and generations to come.
With the completion of my visits to Sanis Town, Sanis Village, Yonchujo, Lakhuti, and Sunglup from 11-13th June 2026, I have successfully concluded a two-month constituency tour covering every village under my constituency.
The tour provided a valuable opportunity to interact with our people, understand their concerns and aspirations, review development activities, and assess grassroots needs. During the final leg, I also inspected the ongoing projects, and inaugurated the new Health & Wellness Centre at Sunglup, constructed under my LADP 2025–26 fund.
I sincerely thank the people for their warm hospitality and trust, and express my appreciation to all officials, village leaders, party workers, supporters, and well-wishers for their cooperation throughout the tour.
With renewed commitment, I will continue working for the welfare, development, and progress of our constituency and the State. @Neiphiu_Rio@MyGovNagaland
Had the privilege of attending today the book launch ceremony of “Apnapan: My Experience with Narendra Modi” authored by Shri Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Hon’ble Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and Rural Development, at the NASC Complex, Pusa, New Delhi, on the personal invitation of the author himself.
Heartiest congratulations to Shri Shivraj Singh Chauhan ji on the release of this remarkable and insightful book.
The book is a touching and deeply personal account of the author’s close association with Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, spanning over three decades. It reflects not only memorable events and experiences, but also the values of leadership, commitment, and dedication to nation-building.
The programme also witnessed the felicitation of dedicated patriotic and social workers associated with social upliftment, cultural activities, women empowerment, entrepreneurship, and rural transformation under initiatives such as Kesariya Vahini, Vijayvrati, and Lakhpati Didi.
It was indeed an enriching and inspiring occasion celebrating leadership, service, dedication, grassroots empowerment, and the collective spirit of nation-building.

Today, I had the opportunity to visit the Nagaland GIS & Remote Sensing Centre (NGISRSC) and interact with the officers and experts, who are doing remarkable work in the field of geospatial and space technology applications.
The Centre has emerged as Nagaland’s apex institution for cutting-edge geospatial services, remote sensing, GIS mapping, and drone technologies, playing a pivotal role in strengthening governance, planning, resource management, and developmental initiatives across the State.
Equally impressed is the Drone School–Drone Centre of Excellence established under the NGISRSC, which was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Chief Minister on 26th January 2026. The Centre is offering a wide range of professional drone training programmes, opening up promising career pathways, entrepreneurship opportunities, and placement support for our youth in this rapidly evolving technological era.
It is truly encouraging to witness such visionary initiatives that are equipping our younger generation with future-ready skills while positioning Nagaland at the forefront of innovation and technological advancement.
I sincerely appreciate and congratulate the dedicated team of officers, scientists, and technical staff led by Er. Mhathung Kithan, for their outstanding contribution, professionalism, and commitment to excellence. I wish them continued success and dedicated service in advancing technology-driven development for the State and its people. @CmoNagaland@MyGovNagaland@AgriNgl
It was a great privilege and joy to participate in the vibrant Moatsu Festival at Waromung Village today. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the warm and gracious people of Waromung for their kind invitation and generous hospitality.
Moatsu is a beautiful reflection of our rich Naga heritage-celebrating gratitude, unity, and the enduring values of hard work and community life. It is truly encouraging to witness these traditions being preserved with such pride and spirit.
I also paid tribute to Late Kiremwati Ao, an illustrious son of Waromung and the first Headmaster of Government High School Wokha, whose visionary leadership laid a strong foundation for education and continues to inspire generations.
As we celebrate, let us renew our commitment to safeguarding our culture while embracing progress and development, especially in strengthening agriculture and rural livelihoods.
Wishing the people of Waromung peace, prosperity, and abundant harvests in the days ahead. @MyGovNagaland@AlongImna@Temjenmenba1409
I had the opportunity today to visit the Integrated Extension Training Centre (IETC), Medziphema, and interact with the 27th batch of trainee students who are on the verge of completing their two-year course.
It was truly satisfying and encouraging to witness their level of confidence, clarity, and commitment. Despite undergoing a condensed and intensive agriculture training programme, these young trainees have emerged well-equipped with practical knowledge and skills.
I am particularly heartened to see them ready to serve as frontline extension workers-to play the crucial role in last-mile delivery of agricultural technologies and services to our farmers.
They represent the future of our agricultural transformation-bridging the gap between research and the field, and strengthening the foundation of our rural economy.
Wishing them all the very best as they step forward to serve and make a meaningful difference on the ground. @Neiphiu_Rio@MyGovNagaland@AgriNgl
Today, I had the privilege of participating, as Chief Guest, in a truly proud moment for Nagaland—the official release of seven newly developed rice varieties for our State.
This achievement is more than a scientific milestone; it reflects the collective strength of our institutions, researchers, and farmers working together with a shared vision. I deeply appreciate the efforts of the ICAR Research Complex, Nagaland Centre, the State Agriculture Department, and our Krishi Vigyan Kendras.
What makes this occasion even more special is that these varieties - Nagaland Hornbill Gold, Patkai Pearl, Sekrenyi-lha, Tokhvü-tssok, Moatsü-tsük, Ahuna-khi, and Aoleang-tahwan carry the spirit, identity, and heritage of our people. Each name reflects our festivals, our land, and our traditions—they are not just seeds, but symbols of who we are.
Rooted in our soil and shaped by our unique agro-climatic conditions, these varieties promise higher yields, better grain quality, resilience, shorter duration and improved income for our farmers. Most importantly, this marks a meaningful step towards food sovereignty and a self-reliant agricultural future.
Our responsibility now is to ensure that these seeds reach every farmer through strong seed systems and effective last-mile delivery.
I congratulate Dr. Harendra Verma, all the scientists and stakeholders involved. Together, let us nurture these seeds of progress and build a stronger, self-reliant Nagaland. @ChouhanShivraj@icarindia@Neiphiu_Rio@MyGovNagaland@AgriNgl@ICAR_RC_NEH
Completed the first leg of my constituency tour covering 9 villages namely, Pyotchu, Moilan, Pyangsa, Lotsu, Morakjo, Longtsung, Chudi, Tsopo, and Meshangpen from 15th to 17th April 2026.
The overwhelming response and active participation of the people made the visit highly meaningful. We had productive interactions, reviewed the implementation of government schemes, and addressed several key concerns raised at the grassroots level.
Also visited schools, health centres, and development projects; inaugurated a health centre building at Longtsung, constructed with my LADP fund.
This tour reaffirms our commitment to responsive governance, accountability, and inclusive development.
The remaining villages will be covered in the next phase.@MyGovNagaland
Today marks a significant milestone for the Department of Agriculture, Government of Nagaland, as the Nagaland Agriculture Policy–2025 was formally presented in the Nagaland Legislative Assembly following Cabinet approval.
With the visionary leadership and support of our Hon’ble Chief Minister, Dr. Neiphiu Rio, Nagaland now has a comprehensive Agriculture Policy after 63 years of statehood, reflecting the present realities, opportunities, and challenges of the sector.
The next crucial step is to translate the policy into action through Government notification, clear implementation plans, alignment and convergence of schemes, adequate budgetary support, and effective monitoring.
The Department remains committed to working with all stakeholders to realize the vision of the Nagaland Agriculture Policy–2025 for the long-term growth and prosperity of our farming community. @Neiphiu_Rio@ChouhanShivraj@AgriGoI@MyGovNagaland@AgriNgl@ambajamir

Today, I had the pleasure of inaugurating the Rural Haat at K. Station, Tseminyu District, funded by NABARD, Regional Office, Dimapur, Nagaland and constructed by Windfall Welfare Society.
This newly established facility in strategic location, equipped with essential amenities, will go a long way in easing the difficulties faced by local vegetable vendors, who have long been selling their produce by the roadside.
The Rural Haat will not only provide a safe and organized market space for farmers and vendors but also help in strengthening rural livelihoods, promoting local agri-business, and encouraging cleaner, more accessible trade practices in the area.
My appreciation goes to NABARD and the implementing agency for their initiative and commitment towards rural development and farmer welfare. @MyGovNagaland@NABARDOnline@AgriNgl
It was truly a delight to be part of organizing and participating in the first-ever Banana Festival at Wokha, which commenced today, and will continue till the 24th October.
The festival has brought together a vibrant spectrum of participants - from enthusiastic farmers and banana growers to SHGs, FPOs, entrepreneurs, researchers, scientists, ICAR institutions and various organizations from across the country.
This convergence of ideas and efforts reflects our collective commitment to promoting banana as a potential economic crop, enhancing livelihood opportunities, and celebrating the rich agricultural diversity of Wokha district and Nagaland as a whole.
A proud and encouraging beginning indeed!

The #NDPP — the party that gave me my first foray into politics, under whose banner I have had the privilege of winning two elections and serving our people — has today drawn its curtain and merged with the NPF.
I look back with deep gratitude and nostalgia on my journey with the NDPP, where I have the honour to serve under the able and dynamic leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. #NeiphiuRio. The experience, trust, and camaraderie shared under NDPP will always remain a cherished part of my political life.
As we move forward under a unified front, this merger marks not an end, but a new beginning — for the common good, a better future, and the continued fulfillment of our regional aspirations. @PresidentNDPP@SecyGeneralNDPP
Had the pleasure of joining the live webcasting of the launch of the PM Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana (PMDDKY) and the Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses, along with the inauguration of several other schemes and projects by the Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi today.
The program was attended by State-level officials from the Agriculture and Allied Departments at the Directorate of Agriculture, Kohima.
It is hoped that the launch of these visionary schemes will usher in progress and prosperity in Indian agriculture, benefitting farmers across the nation. @Neiphiu_Rio@ChouhanShivraj@AgriGoI@MyGovNagaland@icarindia@AgriNgl
Honoured to be part of the Farmer’s Day celebration at Longkhum village, organized by the Longkhum Village IMPCS under the inspiring theme: "Empowering the Farmers for a Prosperous Nation." The event was participated by farmers of Longkhum, Mangmetong, Aliba and neighbouring Lotha villages.
This meaningful celebration stands as a tribute to the tireless effort of our farmers and the enduring wisdom of our traditional agricultural practices. It was a joy to witness the warmth, unity, and inclusive spirit of Longkhum and its neighbouring villages—reflecting the deep bonds of friendship, cooperation, and shared heritage that have sustained our communities for generations.
Farmer’s Day is not only a time to honour the backbone of our society but also an opportunity to rekindle our pride in the land, strengthen partnerships, and inspire the younger generation to view farming as a noble and dignified calling.
My sincere appreciation to the Village Council, Organizing Committee, and all the farmers whose efforts made this celebration truly special. @MyGovNagaland@AgriGoI@AgriNgl
This morning, I made an impromptu visit to Government Middle School, Okotso and had interaction with the students and the teachers. With 56 enrolled students, it was encouraging to see their discipline and eagerness to learn.
What impressed me was the dedication of the teachers, who, despite challenges like poor infrastructure, limited facilities, and shortage of staff, continue to teach with commitment and care.
My appreciation goes to the school management and village authorities for their unwavering support in keeping the school running. @MyGovNagaland@barabasti@SamagraNagaland
