Dear sir, @BTOofficial I write to request urgent assistance regarding my passport renewal application, submitted through the contactless process in August 2025. I sent my old passport, a prepaid return envelope, and the £20 fee as required.
To date, I have received neither my renewed passport nor the return of my old passport. I have also incurred costs travelling to London in an attempt to resolve this matter.
As a Nigerian citizen, I respectfully ask that this be investigated as a matter of urgency.
Thank you for your work on our immigration system. However sir, I have been trying so hard to draw your attention to my passport renewal application I have put in since August 2025. I applied through contactless; I posted the required 20 pounds and prepaid envelope. Sirs, till today I have not received both my old and new passport. I have been spending money pursuing my passport. It seems your response team here on Twitter blocked me. They no longer reply to my message. Nobody is telling me what is happening to my application. I have been left in the dark. Please sirs, could you help me.
@BTOofficial@nigimmigration@F3_LIX17 Dear sirs, please could someone look into my application. It’s been since August 2025 I applied for my passport renewal through contactless. My application is stuck and there is no update from the team as regards what’s happening. I was in London on the 16th January to confirm if the passport had been produced; I was promised the following week I would receive my passport. Sir, it has been nearly a month I have not received both my old and new passport and nobody is providing reasons. I have contacted all the inquiry teams and I keep getting promises that my complaints have been forwarded to the responsible team. Yet there is no changes to my application. Please sirs, could you have someone look into this for me. Thanks.
Dear Honorable Minister @BTOofficial@InteriorNG and the team at Nigeria Immigration Service @nigimmigration ,I hope this message finds you well. I’m reaching out with a heavy heart, as a fellow Nigerian living in the UK, who has always believed in the positive changes being pursued in our immigration services.
I know you and your team are working hard to make processes more efficient, transparent, and citizen-friendly—reforms that many of us in the diaspora deeply appreciate and support. I don’t have a large following like respected voices such as Fisayo Soyombo @fisayosoyombo (whose similar experience in January 2026 brought much-needed attention to these issues), but I trust that every Nigerian citizen’s story matters, no matter how quietly it’s shared. I’m simply asking for your kind understanding and assistance during what has become a very difficult and stressful time for me.
In August 2025, I applied for the renewal of my Nigerian passport using the contactless app, completed my biometrics, and paid all required fees in full (please see the attached receipt). I followed every instruction carefully: in September 2025, I posted my old passport along with the £20 postal fee and a pre-paid return envelope, and I received confirmation that it was delivered (tracking evidence attached). Since then, I’ve waited patiently for my new passport to be processed and returned.
Unfortunately, months have passed with no update. In November 2025, I lodged a complaint via the customer service Instagram page and provided my application details as requested. I was kindly informed that the matter had been escalated to the IT department and that I should expect my passport within the following week. I waited two weeks, checked the app daily, but saw no change. When I tried to follow up on Instagram again, the account appeared disabled, which left me feeling even more uncertain.
On January 13, 2026, after seeing Mr. Soyombo share his experience, I commented with a screenshot of my application status. A representative kindly asked me to send my details to InquiryAtNaija. I did so immediately on January 14, and was told the issue had been forwarded to technical support and to please be patient. I followed up a week later and received reassurance that it would be resolved soon. However, despite my continued messages, I’ve not received any further responses, which has added to my growing worry. It appears the team has blocked me.
On January 16, 2026, I traveled from Newcastle to London at personal expense and time to visit the Nigerian Consulate in London, hoping for clarity. The head of the technical team explained there was an issue with my application and assured me it would be looked into urgently—I was promised the passport would be ready and returned the following week. I returned home hopeful. Sadly, nearly four weeks later, I still have not received either my new passport or my old one. The application status remains unchanged, and I’m left without valid travel documents.
This has caused me significant anxiety, as it affects my ability to plan for work, family emergencies, or any travel needs. I feel stuck and uncertain about what else I can do.I completely understand that technical issues, high volumes of applications, and system challenges can cause unexpected delays—especially during a period of important reforms. I’m not here to assign blame, but to humbly appeal for your compassion and intervention.
@nigimmigration Dear sirs, please could you look into this for me. I am begging. My employer is asking for my renewed passport. I have been spending money chasing this passport. I was in London on the 16th January. That cost me a lot.
@nigimmigration I have put in for my passport renewal since August 2025. My application has not gone pass this stage. Please could you have someone look into this for me.
@hibee47844973 I have been to their office in London. I was there on the 16 of January 2026, I was told the passport would be sent to me the following week. It is almost a month since I was there, the status of the app has not changed and not received my passport yet.

both sides can work towards a sustainable future that benefits everyone.Essentially, trial and error is not a sign of irresponsibility—it’s a necessary part of growth. With patience and mutual trust, families can work together to create lasting stability and prosperity.
A better approach lies in mutual understanding. Parents can recognise that their children need time to build a stable foundation, while graduates must plan thoughtfully to balance personal growth with eventual family support. By fostering patience and open communication,
Just as a new busines needs its first profits reinvested to grow, a young graduate also neds time to establish financial stability before taking on additional responsibilities. Rushing family obligations too soon can lead to stagnation and missed opportunities for personal growth
In many cases, parents, particularly fathers, understandably expect their children to start supporting them as soon as they secure a job. While this is a reasonable expectation, it is not always practical.
