On s’attend donc à découvrir une preuve accablante.

Sauf qu’en regardant le reportage, la voix off reconnaît elle-même que les images ne permettent pas d’établir clairement ce qui s’est passé au moment précis des tirs.

Autrement dit :

Le titre affirme que la version israélienne est fragilisée.

Le reportage admet qu’on ne voit pratiquement rien de décisif.

Alors sur quoi repose exactement cette certitude ?

Sur les images ?

Non.

Sur une expertise indépendante ?

Non.

Sur l’interprétation de B’Tselem, une ONG militante anti israélienne dont les accusations sont régulièrement reprises par les médias internationaux.

Et ce n’est pas seulement BFM.

Le Parisien, Le Figaro, 20 Minutes et de nombreux autres médias, via les dépêches de l’AFP, ont repris le même angle : une vidéo présentée comme fragilisant la version israélienne, alors même que les images ne permettent pas d’établir clairement ce qui s’est passé.

Le plus troublant n’est donc pas la vidéo.

C’est qu’un titre aussi catégorique ait été rédigé pour illustrer des images qui, selon le reportage lui-même, ne permettent pas de conclure avec certitude.

Le titre est affirmatif
La vidéo ne l’est pas
Le reportage ne l’est pas.
Mais le verdict, lui, est déjà rendu

This is my favorite argument.

In Hiroshima, roughly 140k people died due to the nuclear bomb out of 350k. That’s 40% of the city.

In Nagasaki, 80k people died out of 263k. That’s 30% of the city.

In Gaza, 73k people have died (according to GHM) out of 2.3 million. That’s about 3% of the population. A substantial percentage of that are terrorists.

So Israel has dropped an amount of bombs on Gaza that exceeds the power of the nuclear bombs we dropped on Japan and yet the death toll is far lower both proportionally and on a raw numbers basis.

How is that possible if Israel is committing genocide? Maybe it’s because they’re not.

Russia has killed more Muslims than Israel and the United States combined.

The Soviet Union killed 1-2 million Afghan Muslims before most of today’s commentators were born. They used butterfly mines designed to look like toys so Afghan children would pick them up. They burned crops to starve villages into submission. They destroyed irrigation systems to make the land uninhabitable. They killed approximately 9% of Afghanistan’s entire population.

Then Chechnya. 100,000-200,000 Muslim civilians killed in two wars. Grozny, a city of 400,000 Muslims was bombed into rubble twice. The UN called it the most destroyed city on earth since World War II.

Then Syria. Russian aircraft systematically targeted hospitals. They dropped cluster munitions on civilian markets. They used thermobaric weapons on populated neighborhoods. They provided the air cover and UN veto protection that allowed Assad to kill 500,000 people and displace 13 million Muslims the largest refugee crisis since World War II.

Then Libya. Then Mali. Then the Central African Republic. Wagner mercenaries, Putin’s personal army, massacred 500 Muslim civilians in Moura in five days. Booby-trapped children’s toys in civilian homes. Executed prisoners on video.
