even a fraction of your essence will be too much to handle for the wrong people, too bright for eyes that aren’t used to seeing a walking embodiment of authenticity, and too full for anyone that hasn’t addressed the voids that exist within themself.
darling,
you’ve fought wars too. with the mirror, with your skin, with the past, with your thoughts. you’ve fought battles that no one else knew you were bleeding from but still managed to carry on. your strength is undeniable, but you are allowed to want to be held too.
your resiliency, your fortitude, your ability to stay firm and rooted in moments where the ground feels shaky, none of this means that you shouldn’t be looked after, cared for, thought of. being able to tend to everyone else is not an excuse not to prioritize yourself.

It's a hell of a time to get sober, be sober, and stay sober. To all my fellow addicts out there who are doing this shit WITHOUT mind altering substances, I fucking salute you. Struggling with addiction? We've all been saving a seat for you. #recovery#soberlife
conversations with good intentions, exchanges that feel like cardio sessions for the soul, dialogue directed in growth that lead you back to yourself, words wrapped in vulnerability and soaked in honesty, conversations like this.
what doesn’t flow isn’t meant to be forced until it does. let the lack of fluidity tell you what you need to know about what you’re giving energy to. let it be the sign you need to start shifting your focus to spaces that don’t require stepping outside of who you are to exist.
"Obligations 2" by Long Soldier redefines "poem" as "space for unfolding." Instead of a singular, correct way to read, we are thrown into agency. Which read is the path to healing? Which is the path of the grief, the grief, the grief, the grief? How do they connect &/or fissure?
