The woman in the photo grew up literally down the road, won 4 Utah state championships (1 in this exact stadium), Gatorade Player of the Year twice, National Player of the Year, scored the fastest first goal in USWNT history…
Could probably be worth a mention, but idk.
I’ll budge: the reason soccer is so low scoring is not because kicking the ball into the net is very hard (it’s not), it’s that getting the ball to a player in a position where he has a clear shooting angle is extremely hard.
I've tried holding my tongue and focus on enjoying the rest of the World Cup, but I have to say that I don't care if people think it's reactionary or hyperbolic, I think U.S. soccer should avoid any future marketing of Christian Pulisic as the face of the USMNT. They can't control sponsors pushing his image, but I hope it gets reigned in after this.
I'm well aware of his talent level, empathize with his constant injury struggles interrupting the consistency of his play, and understand he likely isn't going anywhere.
However, I don't really want to see the guy in a USMNT jersey again. 🤷♂️
Pulisic skipped the Gold Cup—much to the dismay of many current & former teammates & his coach—to be “best ready” for the World Cup.
He then went 6 months without scoring before the World Cup & then in the 5 games of the World Cup he missed one & left two early with injury.
Madame Celeste Amarilla,
Some of the discourse around this player is getting plain disrespectful.
Club captain, two-time Arsenal POTY, the man whose assist at WHU was THE assist of the title-winning season.
If you think Arsenal should upgrade? Cool.
But how some speak about him is just embarrassing.
