Ok #AgTwitter if 100lbs of AMS is applied 6” deep in a fall strip in NW Indiana silt clay loam let’s say mid Oct. how much S and N can we expect to be there come June 1 with an average winter?
@Farmertom7 Cover crops have proven to be a net loss for this area for most farmers. This is a ten year average from conversations with many growers. You can’t expect farmers to incorporate an unprofitable practice in their program.
@WiBeanBag@badgercropdoc@badgerbean@Bean_Dork It’s my understanding that white mold spores splash up on plants from rains which then spreads. If this is correct that ground cover should really help.
@farmerschneck The best fertilizer system on the market imo. The AGuru row units have been a huge improvement as well. My customers are happier than ever.
I'm so thankful to have the opportunity to do something I love and am passionate about. Strip tillage has proven itself to be a profitable solution for area farmers. I began selling Lynx and AGuru strip tillage equipment as another way to utilize my passion for strip tillage.
@alex_woodall I would encourage you to try strip till if it’s a possibility. Helps dramatically with warm up while getting most of the residue out of the seed zone.
@stclairashley I saw a guy sitting outside a McDonalds who appeared to be homeless and starving so I got him a burger and fries and took it to him. He said “Sorry I’m low carb”. Seriously…
@Henry68157 I always thought that stuff was bogus but then got a WiFi pellet grill and it sure is nice to fire it up from my office 10 miles from home so it’s hot when I get there.
@VerdiPlus I’m not an agronomist but I’ve collected so interested information from some organic guys who do a lot of tillage but obviously no pesticides. They actually have seen less erodibility that they contribute to soil biology increases which help bind soil particles. Thoughts?
Maybe I’m biased, but to me there is nothing more beautiful than spring strips planted into old corn rows. Once I quit burying the residue down here it’s like a whole new level got unlocked consistently. Keeping that fertilizer from the old residue is so underrated
@evanjodlowski20@PetersenFarms They do have the right…doesn’t make it right in everyone’s eyes. Tarnished the entire ag community even though many of us are willing to work and doing things different to avoid erosion.
@PetersenFarms Tillage leads to more tillage. Until you are willing to progress past this crazy tillage cycle there is no advancement. We progressed to strip till and have consistently higher yields as a result with zero visible blowing soils. Work smarter.
@Trent815@PetersenFarms Strip tillage would have made a huge difference and has been proven over decades to increase yields as well as help with erosion control.
