During the court proceedings at Milimani, Mukurweini MP John Kaguchia's lead counsel Ndegwa Njiru raised a pointed question about the translation of his client's alleged remarks, noting that the word "Kasongo" appeared twice in the original Kikuyu text but had been reduced to a single mention in the ODPP's English translation, and he demanded to know where the other "Kasongo" had disappeared to.

The lawyer further asked the court to establish who exactly "Kasongo" is and whether this individual could be produced in court to clarify the context of Kaguchia's remarks, drawing laughter and reactions from those present in the courtroom.

25 December 2025: Azerbaijan Airlines Flight 8243 took off from Baku, bound for Grozny but never made it.

The aircraft, an Embraer E190, was carrying 67 people onboard. As it approached Grozny, it lost navigation systems (GPS interference) and faced poor weather conditions.

During the approach, a shrapnel impact hit the aircraft and the crew attempted to divert and perform an emergency landing in Aktau.

Critical aircraft systems including the hydraulics gave up, leading to loss of control before the crash.

Investigations later confirmed something serious:..
The aircraft was accidentally hit by a Russian air-defense system during active military operations and Russia eventually acknowledged it was an “unintentional strike” and agreed to compensation in 2026.

This is one of the rare modern cases of a civilian airliner being unintentionally shot down. Raising major concerns about civil aviation safety in conflict zones.
