Amazingly South Africa is the same, and it’s not proximately because of the influence of car manufacturers. We just love roads and suburbs! We do it to ourselves!

Problem is that Federal government is a wholly-owned subsidiary of car industry so, even though it is economically and environmentally catastrophic, Federal spending mandates high levels of financially ruinous car ownership.
