@grumpytechbro@BenjaminDEKR They also didn't include my 1.5x pay when they cut my final check after letting me go. I only had 4 hours for working on Christmas Day, but still, it would have been nice to get paid for those hours 😅 It's been over a month.
@BenjaminDEKR They never paid me overtime for working on Christmas Day 😅 They just paid me for my final two weeks, but didn't care to include the overtime. It is wild, but HR definitely intimidated me, so I never bothered to try and get that pay 🤐
@EV_Trapper@elonmusk@JTLonsdale@sriramk@DavidSacks If it's any consolation, they don't pay a lot 😅 I was working part-time for OpenAI (via Greenlight) and I made $100/hr there. xAI offered me $40/hr. I initially didn't take the offer, but ultimately wanted to try it out.
@XPhyxer1 @VikashS73164257 OpenAI paid me $100/hr for a part-time AI training role and xAI offered me $40/hr. I wish xAI paid more 😅 I wanted something full-time but xAI wouldn't even go up to $50/hr.
@verrsane @Miaouwo I get paid less than I did working for Outlier 😅 I even asked Grok what a fair offer would be and linked the response, but they didn't find it funny 😆 I guess it is more stable than Outlier though.
@DevinRasche The general assessment is tricky. I know people who tried 7+ times in a row (by applying with a different email each time since it's automated) and still didn't pass 😅
@scottmorgan @matiroy9 I asked about tips for negotiation and one of the Human Data Leads hid my reply from his tweet 😅😆 so I would recommend not trying that 🤐
@mvsalern777@ibab@xai I've done AI training for Outlier and OpenAI (via Greenlight). I was a little surprised xAI paid less than even Outlier but a lot of people are having issues with Outlier lately, so I ultimately decided to accept.
@Robbbbbbb@ibab@elonmusk@xai The AI Tutor Slack has like 700 people😅 We aren't necessarily guaranteed anything beyond the 6 month contract, but I did some AI training for OpenAI via Greenlight (6 months; had to quit for xAI), so I'm hoping I can do well.
@BitcoinShinobi I've had people DM me that they've tried 5+ times to get past the first assessment. If the assessment is automatically sent, I guess they've found some kind of workaround that lets them keep trying 😅🤐
@ElCafecito432 @matiroy9 This was my last email almost a month ago 😅 I was supposed to start on election day. I figure the no response from xAI meant no though, that they wouldn't do $50/hr. I currently make that with Outlier as a computational linguistics expert, so I wanted them to at least match it
@ElCafecito432 @matiroy9 I tried for the generalist AI Tutor role. I didn't think I was smart enough for the coding version based on the requirements. I had a great interview with one of the AI Tutor leads and was excited to start, but they ghosted me after I asked for a small ($5/hr) pay increase 🙁
@ElCafecito432 @matiroy9 Ah, I joined the OpenAI Forum in June after hearing from the amazing Natalie Cone if I was interested in pursuing AI training 😅 The pay is great, but they cap us to about 8-10 hours of work a week (on my project anyway). I've been trying to do this AI training stuff full-time.
@SincerelyYooku @ibab@xai Ah, I got that agreement after filling out the new hire form. I didn't get around to signing it though because Grant never replied to my inquiry for $5/hr more. This was the last communication I had. I assume the silence is a no, but it would be nice to know 😅
@ElCafecito432 @matiroy9 They sent me this if it helps factor into your decision to apply. It does state that one shouldn't necessarily expect the contract to be extended, which is why I dislike that you can't concurrently continue to work for Outlier or other AI training platforms while at xAI 😅
@DubitareOmnia @matiroy9 Hey I applied as a computational linguist. The platform is CodeSignal but there is no coding involved. My interviewer didn't know what computational linguistics was 😅 so maybe hiring linguists would be cool if the Grok team is lacking such domain expertise.
@SincerelyYooku @ibab@xai I had a similar ghosting experience as well. I was supposed to start on November 5th, but Grant never replied to my negotiation email. I asked for $5/hr more and never got a reply. I guess the response was them telling me no 😅
@SincerelyYooku @ibab@xai I thought it was a reasonable ask. I put my info into Grok and this is what it said - that I should ask for the full $65/hr. However, $50/hr was all I needed to consider the role 😅
