@ashleymckenna20 A similar plot devise was used in my book. A giant plot twist was made that came out of nowhere. It also forced the character to re-evaluate relationships in her life.
@bhayden_20 I have read books by Ellen Hopkins in the past and the way she formats her books are really interesting and make it more enjoyable to read, because there aren't a lot of words on each page.
@sviceconte20 My book also switches perspectives each chapter, at first I didn't like it as much because it made it hard to follow one character's story, but as the character's stories wove into each other it made reading the book a lot more fun.
I love how Kwan made every chapter rotate perspectives of different characters in the book. It worked really well in his favor in terms of grabbing the reader's attention. Using this writing style kept me wanting to read on to that character's next chapter. #apread18
During the book Nick seems to be less aware of the affect his family plays on many relationships in his life than his cousins, like Astrid. This leaves me wondering why Nick has seemed to have grown up in a safe bubble from the harsh truth of his family's judgements? #apread18
I like how Kwan includes words in the book that are in Mandarin or Hokkien and then includes a footnote with the translation. The word choice helps enrich the story. #apread18
I just started reading Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan and it has been so fun to read so far. I really like how in the front of the book Kwan put a family tree. I really enjoy flipping back to the family tree to see where certain characters fit into the story. #apread18
