JUST WONDERING HOW MOMS are supposed to work 9-5, drop the kids off at school at 8 AM, pick them up by 3 PM, stay on top of school activities, meal prep, cook dinner, keep the house clean, do the laundry, run the kids to extracurricular activities, climb the corporate ladder, save sick days for when the kids are sick, be a good friend, daughter, and partner, all while trying to take care of their own body and mental health…
I know it’s the only real option but I hate how salary sacrificing pensions is seen as the solution to this madness. It significantly reduces your monthly disposable income and locks the money away for decades

What a mess our tax system is.
Excellent and detailed FT piece this week on the £100,000 "childcare trap".
If someone earns £99,999 and claims the Governments childcare subsidies, then a £1 pay rise can *cost them* £20,000.
So if a plane ticket costs $1200 to fly from Florida to someplace else in America, but then jumps to $3000 because a hurricane is coming…….that should be criminal. No company should ever be allowed to price gouge during disasters.
My parents are in Portugal and have just paid 24 Euros each for a first class, 314km train journey between Lisbon and Porto. We are so painfully treated for rail services in the UK.
