Holding back tears: “It was a terrible night for women, for children, for the hundreds of thousands of hard working immigrants who make this country great, for health care, for our climate, for science, for journalism, for justice, for free speech, for poor people, for the middle class, for seniors who rely on social security, for our allies in Ukraine, for NATO, for the truth, for democracy, for decency, for everyone who voted again him, and guess what—it was a bad night for everyone who voted for him too, you just don’t realize it yet” @jimmykimmel@JimmyKimmelLive
MAO was the one who made me truly excited to be a reporter.
She came up in a time where you had to be tough if you wanted to survive this business. Her tenacity reflected that.
She always said, you’re a human being first, a journalist second. Her legacy reflects that.
One thing I don’t miss? Storm coverage. Although my box of storm coverage gear is still in my trunk. Stay safe and dry, you hard working HRVA journos! ☔️💨🌧️
The departure of thousands of teachers due to retirement, burnout and other reasons are contributing to an ongoing national teacher shortage that has been leaving schools across the country scrambling to fill classrooms. https://t.co/fwHQIieH93
The First Amendment Matters. So grateful for great reporters like @PeteDujardin who fight each day for the public's right to know. https://t.co/kgVxCjcTy9
Want to know what happened to the 6-year-old kid who shot his first grade teacher at Richneck Elementary? He got treatment at CHKD, switched schools and living with his great grandfather, who says he’s doing “wonderful,” both at the new school and at home https://t.co/W4pdf5FL9n
I’m feeling sentimental today.
This week, five years ago, I was looking for an apartment and preparing to move to Newport News.
Today, my husband and I are closing on a house here because Hampton Roads has become home, and I can’t imagine living anywhere else.
Two months ago I could not even stand and support my own body weight after a bouldering incident.
Today I did squats for the first time. I never thought I’d be happy about a 95 pound squat, but today I’m grateful. 🎉
I’ve been doing a little bit of freelance journalism work on occasion. This time I was the photographer. I’m still telling friends and family all of the interesting things I learned about oyster farming.
If you would have told me a year ago that I’d be spending my days taking and editing photos of happy people and babies, I don’t think I would have believed you. I still can’t believe I get to do this 🥰
