~50% of all birds migrating will pass through on only ~9 nights in the season. Tonight will be one of those MEGA migration nights. Please turn off lights to help the birds go along their merry way. Have paper bags ready to contain injured birds, and call us for help! 773-988-1867
It's #FieldFriday! Today we head to our Mountain Lake Biological Station (MLBS) site in Domain 07 to collect data on small mammals ("smams"). Sarah Szito and Dylan Peters document more than 40 smams before releasing them and doing it all again the next day!

Thanks to @cbschicago for joining us yesterday morning to witness and share the work we do. The more attention this issue gets, the more we can pressure the city to act. https://t.co/YkBLbxMDAs
Tonight should be a big night for warbler migration. Warblers are common collision victims, and such tiny birbs need us big folk to look out for them. Please watch where you step tomorrow morning, move any stunned birds to safety, and call our hotline (773-988-1867) for help!
Very excited to present my thesis research on climate change and black spruce today (poster #65) 17:00-18:30 EST! Come check it out 🙂@LaMontagneLab @CSEE_SCEEmtgs#ESA2022#CSEE2022 🌲🌡
The floodgates are opening. The next 3 nights will see the biggest migration movement of the season so far in Chicago. Millions of birds will fly through Cook County, including warblers, who are frequent collision victims. Call us at 773-988-1867 if you find a bird in need.
Last week the Skokie Planning Commission was unwilling to take a stand against the insufficient bird-strike mitigation Carvana offered for their proposed glass tower across from Harms Woods. Keep sending you objections to this project to [email protected].
This Song Sparrow will not sing again.
This lovely bird and millions of others are flying over the Chicago area for their annual autumn migration. Tens of thousands of them will fall victim to collisions with glass as they pass through our urban area.
Busy day volunteering with @BirdMonitors today. I rescued ~15 birds and recovered ~20 dead birds, like this Yellow-bellied sapsucker. During spring & fall migration, turn lights out to help reduce injuries and deaths from window strikes. #birdcollisions
