Why is individual action* on climate change and the destruction of nature so powerful and important?
Well, imagine yourself at a concert or party where you've had a couple of drinks, the music's getting good... but nobody's dancing

Things the newest IPCC report doesn't change:
- The amount of work that needs to be done
- The incredible progress that's been made already and still being made as I type this
- The value you can provide by joining the movement

“Many of us are basically running mini fossil fuel plants,” says brilliant communicator @leahstokes, about the gas appliances in our homes and businesses. Do your part to retire a mini gas plant today with the IRA! https://t.co/jUyALqF0oK
This is a fascinating proposal to #rewild the west, focusing on restoring #wolves and #beavers so they can work their magic and repair ecosystems on public lands. If politics is in the way, we will just have to get louder, more numerous & more savvy!

Today, @POTUS is visiting the aftermath of a climate disaster in KY that killed 37 people.
Yesterday, @LeaderMcConnell voted against the largest climate investment in US history.
BREAKING: US investments in Brazil’s beef sector are driving the destruction of the Amazon Rainforest. Scientists say deforestation must end within 36 months to prevent an ecological death spiral and lower the accelerating risk of a fully completed, near-term, mass extinction. 🧵
It is truly difficult to express, with the language we have at our disposal, how abhorrent the existence of the death penalty is. Firing squad. Electric chair. Lethal injection. It’s all disgraceful.
But if we pair relevant information on risks and how they affect our lives here and now with constructive information on what real solutions look like and how we can be involved, that's when change happens.
Boston is considering banning gas-powered lawn mowers and leaf blowers. 30 minutes of a gas-power leaf blower produce as much air pollution as driving a Ford F-150 from Texas to Alaska. 1 hour produces smog-forming pollution equal to driving 1,100 miles. https://t.co/71Jn4MYFt3
We cannot change the world by ourselves. We have to do it together. And the first step is to connect our heads to our hearts and to our hands — so we understand not just what’s happening to our world, but why we care and what we can do about it. https://t.co/UHUkh6peGx
The IPCC news this morning should surprise no one. I am scared, and angry. But I refuse to give up. You can't give up either. We're all in this together.
But first, we've got to be honest about the facts, and clear-eyed about how and why have failed thus far. Thread:
[Thread] We’re getting much better as a whole at responding to people who are coming out. Even 15 years ago lgbtq people were being disowned from their families in much greater numbers. But while we’re getting better at this, we still have a long way to go. Some thoughts:
Choose #PeatFree to keep carbon in the ground.
Choose #PeatFree to save sundews.
Choose #PeatFree because your garden doesn't need it.

The death penalty is fundamentally a poor person’s issue. Over nearly 40 years of visiting death row facilities across the United States, I have never met a single person with money or resources. Capital punishment means “those without the capital get the punishment.”
