Great interview today with @zachprelutsky on @azfamily talking about the #FAA and proposed flight path changes in the metro Phoenix area.

The FAA has delayed the implementation of the Phoenix Area Modernization Project to June 10, 2027, to allow additional time to review public comments and evaluate alternative courses of action.
This follows months of advocacy from District 4 residents and neighborhood leaders.
.@DavidVonDrehle Thanks for this piece. Have you ever visited with @loriara abt the FAA’s implementation of #NextGen? We’ve seen this movie before. @washingtonpost

@flyquiet Believe this- “The agency held dozens of public workshops on Metroplex across the metro area last year and before that in 2017, including in Boulder, Littleton, Centennial and Brighton.
But not in Gilpin County.”
- Because it was too far. FAA’s “public process” is outrageous.
@flyquiet “Smart planning” is smart - but only if it’s done on all sides. Recognizing existing land use (that WAS already planned in communities) by the FAA must be better. Legacy routes ARE the basis for planning that’s in place. Just ask us in PHX. #NextGen
Sad state of affairs... Metroplex (implementation of NextGen) is falling short on benefits versus expectations by airspace users & exceeding impacts versus expectations by communities. https://t.co/nl7QmmZc90
Jan 10, 2020 UPDATE: #PHX Flight Path Issue - #FAA declares “Step 2” review complete, obligations met - “no further actions will be taken” under Settlement Agreement. https://t.co/liuGRsiIRM #NextGen
@LindseyReiser was one of the first reporters to cover our FAA flight path battle here in PHX. She was there at the City Council Chambers Meeting in Oct 2014 and stayed with the story thru the reversion last year. Good luck In NY Lindsey! Thx!
The L.A. City Attorney has sued the FAA due to shifting flight patterns out of Burbank Airport which have sent planes flying low above neighborhoods in the southeast Fernando Valley, sparking a myriad of noise complaints. https://t.co/FZYXqQ2irA
4️⃣ years ago. We were just beginning the battle with the #FAA over #NextGen in #PHX. We eventually won in the US Court of Appeals/DC Circuit, reverting most of the offending flights paths. But, the job is not done, nationally. ✈️#MyTwitterAnniversary
@eBrianCox This Court is the venue to achieve mitigation. This is where the PHX petitions were filed. The City and Historic Neighborhoods prevailed. Let’s see where MD goes.
