@smdailypress The last thing we need is even MORE traffic at Santa Monica Airport. Annual flight operations are up 42%. Helicopters are up 89%. Joby EVTOLs don’t need an airport for testing “demonstrations” they can land anywhere. A dense residential neighborhood is a REAL bad choice. #fail
On this day in 2014 (the same year Santa Monica residents voted for Measure LC) Berliners voted to turn Templehof Airport into TempelhoferFeld Park forever!
Today it is Berlin's most beloved park!

People overwhelmingly agree: PARKS ARE ESSENTIAL to healthy, thriving communities. New polling shows strong public support for continued investment in parks, trails, open-access schoolyards, and outdoor spaces: https://t.co/T0mgypqj11
Great news! The governor is including $125 million in his budget proposal to help turn the former East Bay horse track into a 161 acre park.
Santa Monica Great Park could be next for California state funds when the 192 acre Airport closes in 2029!

A RED LINE FOR AIRPORTS ❌✈️
Aviation is driving climate breakdown, touristification, land grabbing & militarisation.
We need a fair & liveable future, rooted in care, not profit.
Stop airport expansion. Reduce air traffic.

On this day, May 8, 2010, Tempelhofer Feld officially opened to the public as a 950 acre RECREATIONAL PARK following the AIRPORT'S CLOSURE in October 2008. Today, it is the most beloved park in Berlin. Such an inspiration! #OTD#thfbleibt#thf100#TempelhoferFeld#parksforall
Familes BLASTED awake 7:30 A.M by noisy Sling Academy Flight School @SlingPilot (@SlingAircraft same manufacturer that crashed & killed 2 people in Catalina last month.) No wonder THOUSANDS of Venice and Santa Monica residents want the airport closed. https://t.co/EocG6F7hBR
#BREAKING A small airplane made an emergency landing just outside Livermore Airport this afternoon. At around 1:25pm a plane was practicing touch and go landings when it experienced engine problems. The pilot was forced to land in a field near the airport. No injuries were reported. @nbcbayarea
On this day, Twenty years ago, on May 6, 2001, the National Park Service and San Francisco Parks Conservancy transformed a former airfield into a park and unveiled the revitalized Crissy Field!
