For 2026, I have updated my PDF of vegetarian recipes for Passover! Sorry, I don't think there will be any new recipes this year (read and you'll see why), but all of the existing recipes are collected in a way that may be easier to work with. https://t.co/OlcES2lDYe
We're starting over in the Torah this week, and I'm starting over with summaries of the weekly Torah portions and holidays. Join me at:
This week in Torah: Bereshit (In the Beginning, Genesis 1:1-6:8) https://t.co/5aN9zbQzgf
@MichaelRapaport Is it on Amazon? The family in the background is from a Shutterstock picture that identifies the people as "Happy Muslim family." Looks like AI fraud.
@HeimishHumor I don't greet people I don't recognize because I never know if they're newbies or board members who never show up for services. Embarrassing...
DID YOU KNOW: This week's Torah portion speaks of the Divine bearing the Israelites out of Egypt on "kan'fei n'shareem" (eagles' wings, Ex. 19:4). But I'm sure it's just a coincidence that the Eagles won the Super Bowl this week.
DID YOU KNOW: Tradition teaches that Israelites were so terrified by the Presence that they heard only the first letter of the 10 Commandments: the silent letter Alef! (not quite silent, it's a throat-stop like before "a" in "apple"). https://t.co/JZNk8DOej9
This week's Haftarah is Isaiah 6:1-7:6; 9:5-9:6, which introduces the angelic call "Kadosh! Kadosh! Kadosh!", Holy, Holy, Holy is [4-letter NAME] of Hosts! Perhaps connected to the Torah portion because of it's talk of the awesomeness of the Divine.
Also in this week's Torah portion: Moses's father-in-law Yitro reunites him with his family and recommends creation of judges to ease Moses's burdens. G-d promises that if Israelites keep His covenant, they will be a Kingdom of Priests and a Holy Nation. They agree to it.
@jewishmemequeen Sorry to hear it. My father, who passed this last Pesach, was also a huge Eagles fan. But at least our fathers saw the first, 2018 victory!
This week's Torah portion is Yitro (Jethro, Exodus 18:1-20:23). The highlight of this portion is 20:1-14, the giving of the "10 Commandments," although Jewish tradition doesn't call them that, because we understand there are 613 commandments. https://t.co/eF9yeiIE9T
