Normally a huge fan of OpenAI products and congratulations on maintaining a lead for so long, but this tweet is celebrating something so far from the truth it is almost a joke. I installed the Codex app yesterday to see what it was like, and it completely sucked. I'm not even talking about the model (never even got to using it properly!), it's the UX that is completely screwed.

The main editor interface has 4 columns less than a minute after I got started with a project, and I still don't have a simple chat editor on the right like in Cursor/Copilot. The core UX is chat-based, even after creating a project (I'm not using ChatGPT!). Codex also automatically asks me to manage a github repository, when I haven't even initialized a repo (or maybe it automatically runs git init, but I don't even know I gave it access to run commands).

To illustrate how bad it is, my new project folder is called "New project"!! You've likely worked with a CLI before so you know how annoying it is to have spaces in your file names, let alone the core project folder. This is a product for developers that has just not been designed by a developer. It's like someone pasted the ChatGPT UI in Cursor and said "ok redesign this for an AI code-editor".

Please study Google Antigravity, it's pretty obviously the best AI code-editor on the market (and I have never worked for Google)
