When looking at ensemble means for TD 9, especially of multiple ensembles blended together, you'll notice the ensemble mean track is west of most of the ensemble members.
This isn't a calculation error - it's a major limitation of using ensemble mean to forecast hurricane track:
8 am EDT Oct 5 - A trough in the southwestern Gulf of America is producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms. Gradual development is becoming more likely, and a tropical depression is likely to form during the middle or latter portion of the week. This system is expected to drift eastward over the next few days, before it turns northward. Visit https://t.co/Wq6ZtKfHp9 for updates.
The weather forecast.... Hasn't happened yet...
It HAS NOT HAPPENED YET.
LOOK ON RADAR TO THE WEST. THOSE ARE STORMS COMING HERE. THEY HAVEN'T ARRIVED YET. THEY ARRIVE LATER.
LATER IN THE FORECAST. LATER TODAY. THERE IS RAIN COMING. EVERYONE LEAVE ME ALONE GOD BLESS IT
A good reminder that nor'easters don't have the same impact everywhere. Some places end up with just moderate rain and breezy winds, some flood-prone places inland get flooding from heavy rain, other places near the coast get significant coastal flooding and damaging winds.
A nor’easter continues to affect the area through Monday with wind, rain, and coastal impacts.
Strong to damaging winds peak tonight into Sunday morning. @JFKairport recently gusted to 55 mph.

Google DeepMind shows a 33% chance of a tropical storm. ECMWF's tropical cyclone probabilities from EPS & AIFS exceed 80%. Surely that means this nor'easter will be a tropical storm, right?
Short answer... it's not that simple.
Breaking down why in this thread 🧵
Chances are you've probably heard a lot about the upcoming nor'easter by now. Instead of repeating the same points, I'll focus on less talked about aspects & uncertainties in this thread 🧵
Let's start with why there's even a nor'easter in September in the first place:
A Nor'easter will ramp up it's impacts to the area tomorrow with increasingly windy conditions and rain beginning late Friday afternoon and into Saturday morning.
Our latest briefing on all of the impacts in our area can be found here: https://t.co/LpL4h0YwC0

An early-season Nor'Easter will rapidly intensify and bring major coastal flooding impacts to the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast Coasts through this weekend. Those in coastal New Enlgand can also expect strong wind gusts and heavy rainfall.

We are continuing to monitor potential impacts from a coastal storm later this week. Some uncertainty remains with the track and intensity of the system. Current key messages are provided below. Visit https://t.co/K4slLrwPTO to stay updated as conditions change. #NYwx#NJwx#CTwx
The Giants lost 28-6 and it couldn't have gone worse. Injuries to Jaxson Dart, Malik Nabers (returned), Brian Burns and Andrew Thomas. Could make argument those are their four best and most important players.
