@sfergs_ It usually takes a weather system to move through the area, that’s why they are saying relief on Sunday but if they can’t get the fires under control, it will likely return within a few days depending on the wind.
My heart is with Venezuela. 🇻🇪💔
I have been trying to find the right words, but there are moments when words simply do not feel big enough.
Lives have been lost. Children and families have been displaced and left without homes or basic necessities. Some are grieving, while others are desperately searching for the people they love, enduring the unbearable uncertainty of not knowing whether they are safe or whether they will ever see them again.
Yes, my family is safe, and I am deeply grateful. Venezuela is where I was born. It is part of my story, my roots and my identity, even though Canada is the country that raised me and became my home.
To witness this tragedy from far away is heartbreaking. Yet, in the middle of so much devastation, I am overwhelmed by the courage, humanity and extraordinary work of the Venezuelan people inside the country. They are searching for the missing, helping the injured, opening their homes, sharing what little they have and doing everything they can to protect and save one another.
For years, the Venezuelan regime has failed its people. But Venezuelans have always shown that we are greater than those who have failed us.
When institutions abandon people, our people find one another. We feed strangers. We shelter families. We comfort those who are grieving. We carry one another through fear, loss and uncertainty. Once again, Venezuelans are showing the world what it means to remain courageous, generous and deeply human in the most painful circumstances.
To everyone in Venezuela helping, searching, rescuing, comforting and refusing to give up: you are not forgotten, and you are not alone.
Many of us who live outside Venezuela carry a deep and complicated guilt. We have watched you remain there, fighting battle after battle for the country we all love. We have witnessed your sacrifices, your courage and your determination to keep going.
Now, as this tragedy brings even more pain, that guilt feels even heavier. It is difficult to express how much I love my people and how painful it feels to be far away when Venezuela needs so much.
But please know this: Venezuelans and friends of Venezuela around the world are mobilizing. People are organizing collections, raising funds and working to bring help to those who need it. Distance has never made us forget you. We carry Venezuela with us everywhere.
We will continue standing with our people and fighting for our country, always. Today, more than ever.

@DearS_o_n I would have given her my all without hesitation, but the lies and my importance to her was minimal. Sometimes god reveals what we refuse to see ourselves.
