After "Liberation Day" tariffs, the weighted-average US tariff rate has jumped to a whopping 29%.

Not even the Smoot-Hawley Act during the 1930s Great Depression saw tariff rates this high.

This is probably one of the best speeches i have heard since the whole debacle with the US and Europe started.
It is by Claude Malhuret a French physician and politician who has been a member of the French Senate since 2014.

Personally the end of the speech sums up my views.
"Our parents defeated fascism and communism at the cost of great sacrifice. The task of our generation is to defeat totalitarianism of the 21st century."

To my European friends this is a manifesto for the future of Europe, our actions will guarantee a future for our children.
Failure to unite and act will bring the collapse of the European democratic states one by one and a very dark future for all.

To my US friends, USA is STILL one of the greatest cradles of democracy that have ever existed, BUT what is happening now is a mistake, a mistake we will ALL soon pay.

1. 25% tariffs on goods from Mexico to US

2. 25% tariffs goods except energy from Canada to US

3. 25% tariffs on CAD$30B of goods from US to Canada

4. 25% tariffs on CAD$125B of goods from US to Canada in 21 days

5. 25% export tax on electricity from Ontario to US

6. 20% tariffs on many goods from China to US

7. 10% tariffs on energy from Canada to US

8. 10%-15% tariffs on goods from US to China

9. Unspecified tariffs from Mexico on US imports to be announced Sunday

Both Canada and Mexico have announced they are exploring "non-tariff measures."

Talk about a turn of events.

President Trump announced new tariffs of 25% on Canada, 25% on Mexico and 10% on China.

These build on already EXISTING tariffs on China, some of which are from the last Trump trade war.
