Virtue is its own reward. Pursuing niceness as a means to benefit only muddies its goodness. In this context, being nice to girls so they want to sleep with you is often so thinly veiled as to be transparent. She can see you aren't truly "good" and is repelled.
@Kin_Loch I think many people would benefit from being reminded that reading good literature is difficult and it's ok to not totally "get it" immediately.
Yesterday I received two pieces of hate mail: one for being a secret right-winger (for talking about digital ownership issues in my latest video) and for being a raging leftist (for saying Ben Shapiro made a career making people angry).
One of the best things @alissamarie taught in her PCI class is that all cultural goods are aimed at some vision of the good life. Much of social media is clearly aimed at a perverse vision that dehumanizes its users iot sell them redemption through targeted ads.
Parents, wake up: the medium isn’t neutral—it’s predatory. If your only concern for your daughters is sexual content & screen time, you’re missing it. Social media algorithms are driving spikes in body dysmorphia and suicidal ideation in teen girls. This is how it works.
I just finished reading through Edmund Morris's 3 volue biography of Theodore Roosevelt. It was an monumental as the man himself. I enjoyed the deeply human portrayal of a near mythical man.
I finished my @CatherineProj Greek course last night and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little glad to be finished. It was a great experience and I loved learning but it was intense. Greek is no language to be trifled with. Knowing me, though, I'll be back in the future.
We gotta stop wasting money on teachers and libraries so we can give more to police so they can get even more up-armoured tanks to drive through our neighborhoods.
Stop what you're doing and read this. It's from today.
"...the Attorney General and the Secretary of Defense, in consultation with the Secretary of Homeland Security and the heads of agencies as appropriate, shall increase the provision of excess military..."

Saying "chat" or "skibbidy" isn't within 1000 leagues of the online brainrot of people saying Ligon Duncan will be going to hell for complimenting a woman who attended and worked at a seminary.
Proud of Becca Davis ~ a recent @ReformTheoSem grad now working as an editor at @crossway. Becca studied & was a Teaching Assistant at @RTSJackson.
Communism often gets criticized for it's materialism but capitalism (at least as it exists popularly today) is just as bad, reducing humans down to merely their value added to a corporation and flourishing being simplified to gdp growth.
@zenahitz@gbglax When I read this article, I kept thinking of the various ways it echoes Lost in Thought. A wonderful reminder of the human necessity of leisured cultivation.
Kinda funny for a guy who went on a rant about how wearing "funny hats" was a anti-gospel attempt to get closer to God.
Not to mention someone whose entire ministry is predicated on never being held accountable for his folly.
