They do it because it works on the uninitiated. The listener’s mirror neurons fire, the soft-headed start nodding back, and suddenly the empty assertion has acquired the texture of conviction. But watch the eyes. The nod is pure theater; the gaze is pure calculation. Thompson would have called it the “affirmative bob of the professional liar”—a rhythmic little dance that sells the con while the speaker keeps one foot on the gas pedal of plausible deniability. Both of them have turned it into a tic. Once you see it, you can’t unsee the metronome of managed sincerity.

So I spent a long time building a sourced historical compilation that follows the conflict from the late Ottoman period to the present. It doesn’t begin at whichever moment best suits one side, and it applies the same standard of evidence to every party. It separates established facts from contested interpretations, names who made each legal or historical finding, and flags claims that go further than the evidence supports. It also marks the items that still need fuller verification. This is a serious working compilation, not a claim to have written the final word on a history this large.

I used several AI systems, including Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok, and Perplexity, as adversarial research and editing tools. I had them challenge the wording, raise counterarguments, find weak links, and critique each other’s drafts. They didn’t decide what is true. The sources do, and they’re linked throughout so you can check them yourself.

I’m not writing for or against Jews or Palestinians. I want the people I care about, and anyone else entering this argument, to start with the facts, recognize what is still disputed, and stop repeating claims that don’t survive contact with the record.
