As a disabed person it's ok to feel angry right now.
It's ok to feel left behind, unheard or expendable, like an afterthought or let down by allies.
People's ableism is showing.
It's ok to be angry with ableism.
These feeling are OK,
Because ablesim is never ok.

Our hearts go out to the Mitchell family and all those impacted by the devastating wildfires.
This tragedy reveals the systemic gaps that leave Disabled people disproportionately at risk in disasters.
We are committed to driving change so that no one is left behind!
💔 The tragic loss of Anthony Mitchell, a wheelchair user and his son Justin, who had CP and no mobility aid, during the LA wildfires highlights deadly gaps in disaster planning for Disabled.
We must ensure inclusive preparedness to save lives.

I'm getting ready to follow #COP29 without, for once, actually being there. Here's a thread of essential resources, if you're in the same position as me:
Systemic solutions like those proposed by #Earth4All are nothing new to Indigenous communities, says @hindououmar@AFPAT_. She calls for an economy that supports both people and nature, and greater investment in indigenous people as active stewards of our planet. Watch now ⬇️
What a night in Cali Colombia @COP16Oficial@UNBiodiversity HISTORIC! 🤩
✅ The subsidiary body of the article 8j adopted
✅ The recommandations of the @UN4Indigenous adopted
✅ The work plan adopted
✅ The African descendant adopted
Very proud of adding my voice there🥳💃🏽
Indigenous Peoples and local communities are the guardians of nature. Their knowledge and voices are vital for guiding decisions made at #COP16. @hindououmar
Today is nature and culture summit @UNBiodiversity@COP16Oficial and I was honoured to do the closing panel on accessing finance for #IndigenousPeoples as the chair of the @UN4Indigenous.
Finance should be directed to the communities on the ground that are acting.
🔔 Delighted to share my first report to the UN General Assembly, on the Overview of the implementation of the human right to a clean, healthy and sustainable environment 📣

Campaigns are not representative organisations.
There seems to be some confusion about this lately, especially in regard to disability rights.

2 years ago on this day I had a series of medical crises that changed my life forever.
It costs $840/day for additional care I need. It is unsustainable. This is structural ableism.
I am crowdfunding again so I can live in the community

Transportation to shelters must be accessible for all! Disabled people are often left stranded during evacuations, we face dangerous & life-threatening situations.
We demand inclusive, accessible transportation options in all emergency plans!

My deepest sympathy goes to his family, friends and those who have support him over the years.
He will be sorely missed,
And his impact will continue to reverberate for decades to come.
Rest in power Robert.
Through our conversations, he show me that there was a way to navigate that space confidently, and yet reserved.
He had a wonderful, compelling and sensitive way of making his voice heard for his community.
And an inviting approach to collaboration.
A true diplomat for us.
