An intensely curious person. Former CEO of Credo and president of Silverplatter. Now laser focused on seeing a transition to Open Access in my lifetime.
@mbeisen Doesn't "Thinking Fast and Slow" by Daniel Kahneman identify insights that apply to the Dunning-Kruger effect? The examples that he gives of the biases and illogical decisions of 'fast thinking' are backed up with lots of empirical results that Kahneman and Tversky studied.
@mbeisen I don't know the details, but my brother (William F Dove) told me that his lab was involved with both the Min Mouse and the PIRC rat. To protect the PIRC rat from having someone try to patent a derivative they patented it before putting it in the public domain. A CC-BY rodent !

@ashleydfarley Until such time that we can make Articles of Record fungible with Author's Accepted Manuscripts every single subscription article is its own little monopoly, and monopolies entice 'rent-seeking' behaviors.
I looked this morning LinkedIn so see who has been looking at my profile. What does it mean that someone completely outside of any circles I travel in has "found me on LinkedIn": He is "VP - Funeral Home and Cemetery Lending".
I live in a COVID-19 hotspot. Is he trolling?
Finally found a use for all those great Crown Royal Sacks: A mask that looks forward to the day we can share a drink with strangers. #masksforall#crownRoyal
@mchris4duke A common genre of episodes go back in time to engage with a historical figure. Kathleen Hong (when she worked for Credo) did a blogpost on which of these bio-lookbacks were most historically accurate. Van Gogh was the winner. That episode brings me to tears every time. Enjoy!
@TheOfficialACM Is it an ACM position the hard-fought gains for Open Access in the NIH and NSA mandates in 2008 "amounts to a significant government intervention in the private market."?
The letter you co-signed said exactly that.
@1Password#1Password@1password I've tried to go to the Support Forum to get an answer to this question, but it requires me to login and I cannot login. Catch-22.
@1Password I'm trying to sign in on my desktop. Since I purchased a standalone license for 1Password your site assures me that I do not have a Secret Key and I don't need one to sign in. But when I attempt to sign in I get a message "Invalid Secret Key". What gives?

@rschon@chsconf See my Scholarly Kitchen post this morning on APCs paid by Gates Foundation over the past 4 years. Elsevier charged the foundation the highest average APC in fully OA journals. $500 more than any other publisher.
@rmounce It’s been my go-to drink at mile 18 of each of the 28 marathons I’ve run, de-fizzed, of course, and handed to me by a loving friend or relative.
