I'm a conservative Republican. I'm the former Chief Nominations Counsel to the Senate Judiciary Committee. I believe the Senate should give great deference to presidential nominations. I thought it should confirm Bondi.
The Senate should, and must, reject Blanche.

And the spin is that we're not "giving" Iran any money, just unfreezing their own assets. Also, this is to be "performance-based." Given that the U.S. offered economic incentives to Iran yesterday for Iran not to fire a missile at Israel, one wonders how such "performance" will be adjudicated and by whom.
At this point, Trump has been played by pretty much every country in the Middle East, from Israel and Saudi to the UAE and Qatar, and now by Iran itself. He’s like a Baby Huey in a world of grownups. He makes Jimmy Carter look like a canny master of geopolitical maneuvering.
Trump supporters are hoping against all odds that the MOU will not be terrible.
But even without the MOU, here are the realities: America lost, and Iran is now more politically powerful than four months ago.
Don’t be fooled by Trump or his supporters. The Iran War will be remembered as the worst strategic disaster since the Vietnam War—if not the end of World War II. That much was clear weeks ago. https://t.co/GyUUGFzrQ9
The reflecting pool is now green, the color of all the money wasted on it. Painting the bottom has apparently heated the water and accelerated algae growth. Pure Genius.

Remember when Trump and Hegseth bragged that our Navy was escorting ships through the Strait of Hormuz?
What they were actually doing was bribing Iran to let them through.
Billions by the way.

The great thing about pushing Vance out in front to sell this thing is that not only is he making Republicans very, very nervous (imagine if John Kerry had said the IRGC has seen the error of its ways in 2015), but he's giving Democrats a very strong argument for 2028 that he'd be a terrible foreign policy president, naive and stupid when it comes to America's adversaries. Absolutely incredible stuff. And people are wondering why Marco Rubio has gone into occultation right now.
This time we'll send barges full of cash. That will show them!
Mast leaves out that when Obama sent cash it was the Iranian's money that had sat in interest bearing accounts for decades.
This time it will be U.S. Taxpayers who foot the bill.
The irony is almost unbelievable.
For years, some conservatives warned that Obama would turn the White House into a celebrity playground, politicize every institution, and treat it like his personal brand.
He didn’t.
Now there’s a UFC event on the White House grounds, corporate sponsorships everywhere, and a cage fight being used as a presidential spectacle.
Trump did to the White House what his critics feared.
The joke wrote itself.
