ICE claims that Araujo drove into one of their SUVs with his van and then tried to run over an agent.

ICE and the Department of Homeland Security are now reportedly trying to forcibly "self-deport" all three eyewitnesses to a fatal ICE shooting in Houston this week.

On Tuesday (July 7), longtime Texas resident and Mexican national Lorenzo Salgado Araujo was intercepted by ICE agents as part of a nationwide "crackdown" ICE surge.

At the time of his killing, Salgado Araujo "was working toward securing legal status in the U.S. and knew what to do if stopped by ICE," the Associated Press reported.

After ICE agents fatally shot a hardworking father of three American sons, Stephen Miller's deadly apparatus defaulted to a now worn out and routinely debunked excuse — claiming Salgado Araujo "weaponized his car," forcing an ICE agent to shoot and kill him.

If that sounds familiar, it was the same lie ICE and Miller trotted out after ICE agent Jonathan Ross shot and killed Renee Good in cold blood in January.

Even as video clearly exposed their claims as baseless, Stephen Miller and his sociopathic goons repeated them constantly, as if they could convince us to disregard what we all saw and heard with our eyes and ears.

Good's killing by ICE was witnessed by tens of millions of Americans, evidence that undermined Trump and Miller's attempts to conceal what really happened that day.

According to a new report, ICE and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) appear to have learned something from that failed attempt at falsifying evidence, and they immediately acted to force-deport all three of the passengers in Salgado Araujo's van.

Those individuals are the only eyewitnesses to the fatal incident. The fact that ICE and DHS, neither of which have hesitated to lie to the American public about their rogue actions before, are trying to disappear them does little to sell the story.

" ... it appears three other people were in the van with the now-deceased man, and they presumably could recount their version of what happened: the victim’s brother and two employees of the dead man’s construction business. They were detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement during the encounter, and we haven’t heard from them publicly about what happened.

"Now, in another potentially dark turn in the saga, those three men are under pressure from immigration officials to agree to self-deport, Juan Proano, a representative for the families and CEO of the League of United Latin American Citizens, claimed in an interview," The New Republic reported today.

Proano told the outlet that the three men are currently in ICE detention, under heavy pressure to "self-deport" before they can make statements about what happened Tuesday.

"They’re being pressured to sign self-deportation orders. They’re currently in detention. These men hold the key to what actually happened," Proano explained.

ICE's claims that deaths in the field are the fault of the deceased almost always collapse under the barest judicial scrutiny.

In Good's case, a widely viewed video served as a direct rebuttal to the ICE's insistence she too had "weaponized her car," the pretense for ICE agent Jonathan Ross' decision to kill her.

"F***ing bitch," Ross muttered in the footage, after shooting an unarmed Good four times.

As usual, ICE and DHS have refused to release any evidence supporting their claims that Salgado Araujo tried to "drive at" agents, and they expect us to take their word for it.

It looks like "an effort by DHS to get rid of the only eyewitnesses to what happened," Proano told The New Republic.

As the deaths of Salgado Araujo, Good, Alex Pretti, and far too many others have shown, ICE is a lawless agency under the lethal control Stephen Miller — who no one elected, and who insists that Trump has absolute power to execute Americans and our neighbors on the street without oversight.

Everyone in the United States is at risk every day, and ICE has been escalating their efforts to terrorize our communities this month.

We literally cannot survive two more years of this, and we HAVE to vote for accountability, the abolition of ICE, investigations, trials, and a return to the rule of law this November.
