Interesting discussion right now at @BrookingsInst of National AI Advisory Council (NAIAC) members re: their first report that was just released. #NationalAI

Education equity came alive for me this week listening to @dr_farima speak at @CSMP_Network#LeadLearn23 summit. Never heard her speak? Listen to her describe her lived experience poem (via TEDx):

@DrBradJohnson The best kept secret about large-scale stdzd tests is that they are designed to measure SYSTEMS; there’s not enough question depth to measure individuals reliably.
Also, as I explain to colleagues, “summative tests are like grading beef - the cow is dead”
@PhilOnEdTech - Well said! Are they trying to build a case that “high quality courseware” is a substitute for “high quality teaching”? I’ve only seen examples of dramatic decreases in DFWI rates when the PEDAGOGY is improved!
It’s time to #ScholarshipOfTeaching!
"Apparently, there was insufficient curiosity to ask the obvious question: what is the basis for your belief that promoting the adoption of high-quality courseware will actually help more students?"

“If my children were ever threatened in a manner that Jo Boaler’s has, I would leave this place and never comeback. We need Jo Boaler. And now Jo Boaler needs us.” — @Mathgarden https://t.co/msOiOIsClD
@joboaler@Mathgarden I’m a G5 teacher in Istanbul - I have learned so much about maths teaching from your website and your books. My teaching partner and I couldn’t do what we do without your inspiring, helpful and useful work. Thank you so much! #protectProfboaler
@joboaler@Mathgarden Teach children how to think. Fall in love with teaching math. Ask why that answer more often then what is the answer. Thank you @joboaler for helping me be a better maths teacher. #protectprofBoaler
