Yes. The point is not that the IMF report is gospel. If the IMF were serious about using its programme as an instrument of reform tied to conditionalities, the Pakistan govt would take action.
It suits a crooked govt to do anything but reform. And it suits the IMF to have a dependent Pakistan.

The @imf_pakistan governance report specifically flagged sugar as an industry where political leadership manipulate the market to their advantage. The PM's family is one of the largest owner of sugar mills.

So what does disinformation minister Ata Tarar do; he goes ahead to defend how the govt is going to do the same thing again; export sugar so that prices can increase, and it can then import sugar again.

No wonder Mohsin Naqvi was compelled to announce that the system has collapsed.

Mr Ismail, please do not distort facts or try to mislead the people. As a matter of record, sugar was exported in 2024 without any subsidy because there was surplus.

Last year sugar was imported timely due to lower yield of sugar cane to protect the consumer and maintain a balance in prices.

This year 100,000 tonne surplus sugar from the last year’s import is now being re-exported, once the market conditions are perfectly stable. This is without any adverse effect on the market and the grower & the consumer both remain protected. You will gain nothing by twisting facts.

Would you like to say a word or two about FBR's enforcement measures through which an additional Rs 60 billion were collected from the sugar industry and no ex exceptions were made.

مسلم لیگ ن کس منہ سے عمران خان کو پاکستانی ہسپتال میں علاج کی سہولت دینے کے خلاف سپریم کورٹ میں نظرثانی درخواست دائر کر رہی ہے، جبکہ ان کے اپنے قائد علاج کے نام پر لندن فرار ہوگئے تھے؟

The Supreme Court’s order to hospitalize Imran Khan brought a nationwide sigh of relief, not just for PTI supporters but for the country's collective conscience.

State repression may silence people, but it doesn't kill their humanity.

Last night’s disgraceful actions shattered that moment and stripped the govt of any remaining dignity. This is how states alienate their own people.

Supreme Court orders were defied. They were defied by the govt.

PTI need not defend why Imran Khan's sisters spoke to the press, once the govt duped the court by not taking Imran Khan to Shifa International hospital, not constituting a medical board, and not conducting the necessary tests.

When Information Minister Ata Tarar attempted to sanctify these lies through deceptive statements, Imran Khan's sisters had to let the world see their lies and expose them.

All of Pakistan is now looking at the courts to see justice is done. It is clear that the Sharifs do not want any rapprochement between Imran Khan and the state, even at the cost of eroding the trust of the people of Pakistan, because their illegitimate politics depends on it.

Imran Khan was to be SHIFTED to a specific hospital. Instead, unelected govt played out a drama by making him VISIT a different hospital briefly. This is as clear a contempt of court as can be.

This moment is and should be about Imran Khan's physical and mental wellbeing, which this regime has played havoc with over the last few months.

Remember, Imran Khan is the most popular political leader in the country, the rightful PM if election results were not forged, and despite ludicrous convictions he has tolerated jail of a harsh nature no politician in the recent past has had to go through. He has done it like the champion that he is. But he is human.

Let the focus now be on his health. It is no one else's achievement; no one else's efforts. Imran Khan himself has born the burden of this struggle. We now need our national hero fit and healthy like the champion that he is, fighting for Pakistan.

Everyone else should keep their petty fights and petty personal egos in check. That's the biggest favour you can do.
