I've always maintained that there is a difference between what's urgent & what's important - keeping this in mind has never been more important than right now - keep the main thing, the main thing!
You're not grading assignments.
You're collecting evidence to determine student progress and pointing them towards their next steps.
Make the mental switch. It matters.
@TrevinoMisty I hear you. As a new leader, I have been repetitive in my approach that less is more & that we need to focus on SEL & dig cit before any "academic" content. We must give abundant grace & flexibility to families as we all battle through this time. This graphic sums it up well.
School is NOT closed for the year. The building is. If you listen closely you can hear the hum of hard working teachers, administrators, and support staff preparing to save the day in ways and means never seen before. Yes, we are brokenhearted, but these broken hearts will lead
Im broken, in tears. Students are messaging me. Straight up devastated for my students, staff and community! Devastated for my families, they dont have much, worried about their & my staffs well being! I get the why & thought I was ready to hear it, but don’t want to believe it!
To all teachers asking for permission to continue reading Wonder to their students via zoom, or recording themselves for a read aloud: yes!!! Go ahead!!! And thank you for your dedication and perseverance. Thank you for your guidance and wisdom. Thank you for your courage. Xoxoxo
Teachers, please don't do these 5 things this year:
* take away recess as a punishment
* use silent lunch on whole group
* make students go more than an 1- 1 1/2 hr without a break
or physical activity
* take students misbehavior personally
* give up on your students
Yes I will give a student a second, third, forth.......chance! As many chances as it takes for a child to succeed! That’s my job, that’s what I signed up for - to be the difference, to go one more round! #relentless
Never underestimate the power of knowing your students. Open the door to limitless possibilities through building rapport & meaningful relationships! 🚀

“Programs don't teach children literacy; teachers do. Wise admin invest in their teachers, not in programs. Wise teachers follow the child, because the informed observation of a child's reading behaviors will always tell knowledgeable Ts what instruction is needed.” @ruswalsh https://t.co/bzP19YCuvf
