@jennhockley Yeah, I look at it very similarly. I'm currently working on my third manuscript and have yet to feel like any of them are good enough to try to get published. But that's not really the point for me anymore either. I just love making up people and things for them to do.
@jennhockley One of the universal experiences for writers is being told that we won't make money. I basically did the same thing and said F it. I love writing. That's what I'm going to do. If I make money, great. If not, at least I did it.
I was at the library today, and pulled out a book about "how to write a novel."
I then shelved that shit. I don't need to be reading any more books like that with the same info.
What I need to do is just pump out this first draft. No more messing around.
5 things in my WIP...
1) Secret cities
2) Forgotten tongues
3) Gods
4) Madness
5) Blood

WAYS WE DESCRIBE OUR MANUSCRIPTS
1) this is my heart and soul and am fiercely proud
2) bit like a tipped over tin of alphabet soup
3) my smudgy son, do not shout at it, it has anxiety
4) raw potential! could be genius or terrible! it's a surprise!!
5) cute typo doing its best
She looked upon the ruins of their burned house. The smoldering skeleton holding his secrets, and she walked through it trying to find something she recognized.
His face, perhaps
His promises.
