@RutgersAltRoute Thanks everyone. I really liked the last questions. It really challenges some practices that recreate fix mindset in students and empowers us to find strategies to use assesment to encourage students groth mindset.
@RutgersAltRoute One thing that I question is the need for assesment practices that encourage fix mindset in students. Now I call our Math assessments practice insted of quiz or test. I allow them to work with a partner so they can discuss their thought process. #AltRtEd#GrowthMindset
@RutgersAltRoute A4: I often ask my students "can you explain me what you did?" When they explain their process I ask, "why did you decided to solve it that way?" If the process has some misconceptions, I provide "I would do it this whay. because..." #AltRtEd#GrowthMindset
@RutgersAltRoute A3: First, I presented the idea of GM in our morning meeting, so I can reference to it when I am encouraging them to try again. I also encourage students to present their process instead of presenting their results when they are solving Math problems. #AltRtEd#GrowthMindset
@RutgersAltRoute A2: Teachers can intentionally develop a culture of wroth mindset in the classroom. This can be done by presenting the concept of GM to students, normalizing mistakes as a proccess to learn, rewarding process intead of results. #AltRtEd#GrowthMindset
@RutgersAltRoute A1:Students mindset can determine their interactions with the content. Is students have a fix minset they are more likely to avoid putting effort into their work. If students have a groth minset, they will know that with work they will be able to improve in any skills.
@RutgersAltRoute A5: My school can improve on avoiding punitive aproaches to "misbehaviours". Proactively teaching acceptable behaviours and strategies to students instead of focusing on reactive actions. Training about inclusion is also essential. #AltRtEd#Sped
@RutgersAltRoute A4: in person: preferential seating- making sure that we are intentional where our students seat and with whom.
In-person and virtual: Check lists to ensure they can track their work and stay organized. #AltRtEd#Sped
@RutgersAltRoute A3: Allow for extra time to complete assigments is very powerful for students with ADHD, this ensures they will experience success when they put work into a task. Another tool is to teach them to break the work into smaller parts. #AltRtEd#Sped
@RutgersAltRoute A2: One way to encourage students is to ensure that when they advocate for themselves, their requests are met. This empowers them to voice their needs in the future. #AltRtEd#Sped
@RutgersAltRoute A1: Oprotunities: The entire class can benefit from universal design instructions. Everyone benefits by reviewing content.
Challenges: many demands in the classroom, so time can be streached thin for all students including the sutdent with learning disabilitie. #altrted
@RutgersAltRoute A5: emotional support and reasurance is important for the target. For the bully it might be important for the school to follow up with any mental or emotional issues that might be motivating this behaviour as well as family environment. #AltRtEd#Standuptobullying
@RutgersAltRoute A4: we can take this experiences as a learning oportunity to really learn about classroom dinamics, social dinamics, antydiscrimination, and social issues. #AltRtEd#Standuptobullying
@RutgersAltRoute A4:When we experience incidents of harrasment, intimidation, and/or bulling, the classroom containter or rules and norms is broken. Therefor, we need to stop and recreate a containter where students feel safe in the learning process.#AltRtEd#Standuptobullying
@RutgersAltRoute A:3 I create a positive relationship with parents and other teachers as well with students from other grades. I keep onogoing communication with parents individually and as a group. I encourage them to contact me with any questions or concerns. #AltRtEd#Standuptobullying
@RutgersAltRoute A third step is to act when you witness hear about behaviours that can scalate to bulling. A forth step is to involve the anty bulling team at my schoo. #AltRtEd#Standuptobullying
@RutgersAltRoute The first step is to have a converation with students about what is bulling and what our policies are. A second step is to provide a safe space for students where they can feel report if they are experiensing or witnessed bulling. #AltRtEd#Standuptobullying
@Jbc123455@RutgersAltRoute Thanks for saying this Josh. I think that this is very important, since bulling can often be based on the individual characteristics.
