@BereanHouse The part you are missing is how the Book of Mormon provides evidence of Joseph Smith. Latter-day Saints who have internalized the messages in the book are able to connect the dots that Joseph Smith is like other prophets in the past. Perhaps you should try it out for yourself.

What you are asking is if I will obey a church leader who decides that I shouldn’d drink soda. The Word of Wisdom is D&C 89. No soda is mentioned there.

And yes, I have a problem with people in the church referring to things that are not found in section 89 as part of the Word of Wisdom.
