St. Gerrard Construction, owned by the influential Discaya family, emerged as the No. 1 contractor during the Duterte administration's "Build, Build, Build" program, according to a September 2018 report by the Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism (PCIJ).

From July 2016 to December 2017, St. Gerrard secured ₱12.3 billion worth of contracts despite having been suspended by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) over the submission of spurious tax clearance documents.

PCIJ found that St. Gerrard and nine other firms cornered ₱68.5 billion, or 14% of all DPWH-awarded projects during Duterte's first 18 months. Several of these companies were previously blacklisted, suspended, or had owners facing graft cases, yet still managed to secure lucrative contracts.

The report noted that contractors with checkered records continued to thrive under Duterte's flagship infrastructure push, while DPWH investigations into irregularities dragged on.

Ordinary citizens are now voicing their truths and sentiments from the ground.

The catastrophic mismanagement of the COVID-19 pandemic, which led to the needless deaths of many thousands, was only worsened by the egregious plunder of public funds during that dark period. It remains one of the most abhorrent legacies of the Duterte administration. And as if that were not enough, he orchestrated the massacre of thousands more under the farcical banner of a so-called war on drugs—an operation drenched in blood, fear, and impunity.

Now, we find ourselves burdened anew by the staggering incompetence and alleged corruption of his own daughter, who pledged to emulate her father's path and even take it further. We have witnessed numerous red flags—instances of brazen misuse of our hard-earned taxpayers’ money. She is also alleged to have plotted, or at least conspired, in a sinister scheme to assassinate the sitting President of the Republic.

We are, without doubt, standing on the edge—between light and shadow, between a future redeemed and a future lost. God forbid this nation sees another Duterte ascend to Malacañang.

The Filipino people must resist. We must not cower. We must hold them accountable for the grievous sins they have committed against our Republic.
