The Battalion Chief coordinates incidents in their battalion for accountability/safety. They oversee multiple firehouses, day to day operations & administration in their battalion.
This summer, Coolidge HS senior Keion Palmer brought creativity and heart to DC Fire & EMS and the Media & Community Relations division. From covering our members to producing a story on fellow interns, Keion inspired us all. We know this won't be the last we'll see of him!

The loss of Firefighter Technician Brown will be felt throughout the District and the Department.
We express our deepest heartfelt sympathy to the family and loved ones of active-duty Firefighter Technician Paula E. Brown.
The Department regrets to announce the death of active-duty Firefighter Technician Paula E. Brown, who passed away on 7/16/26.
She was appointed to the Department on 2/12/1989, to Engine 30. Firefighter Technician Brown was assigned to Air Unit 2 at the time of her passing.
DC Fire and EMS Action Program participants joined #DCsBravest at Engine 32 for our monthly All Hands on Prevention. They interacted directly with DC residents and provided fire safety/prevention information.
We are working to create pathways to @dcfireems and public service.
