As the world becomes increasingly digital and network news slowly dies out, I wonder if the government will have to take additional steps in protecting the spread of information from being manipulated by hackers? #COMM106
Trump's use of Twitter has been very effective for him--partly because he is in a constant battle with mainstream media. I wonder if the next president will use twitter as a tool in the same way Trump has?#COMM106
@MattGreeneComm I think there is a random connection between that and how famous Michael Jordan became in his career. He was a great player, but the relative newness of TV (and lack of other current mediums) allowed him to gain more fame than any athlete before.
FDR disliked publishers because he claimed they promoted an elitist bias against the New Deal. However, FDR used the New Deal as a public apparatus to exert an influence over the public mind in favor of the New Deal. Aren't they both manipulating the spread of info? #COMM106
Peters argues that with the emergence of the radio came a, "brief shining moment of dissemination eventually washed over by dialogism." Do you think there is any medium in existence in which dialogism could be avoided?@MarianiComm106#COMM106
I found it interesting when Peter highlighted the change from an emphasis on spiritualism in the earlier communication tradition to an emphasis on the body in contemporary communication theory. #COMM106
It is interesting to see the connection between Mulvey's description of women in film as being looked at/displayed and Berger's concept of the surveyor and the surveyed in regards to women in oil paintings #COMM106
I found it interesting to compare the difference between framing and bias and believe it would be best for society if news outlets could eliminate bias as much as possible #COMM106
@MattGreeneComm was curious if you agree with Benjamin that the art of storytelling is coming to an end? You still tell a good story in my book. #COMM106
I thought it was interesting that Benjamin argues that all great storytellers provide useful (moral or practical) information through their stories. #COMM106
