@kamerlinlab @Hold2LLC The 3M Aura has spotty fit capability and doesn’t provide adequate protection for a portion of the public. Unfortunately, the discussion has been almost exclusively about filtration rates. Without a fit test you would be gambling wearing that respirator.

@linseymarr It is wrong to equate KN95’s with N95’s. Extensive testing shows the design doesn’t seal well enough to provide 90% protection. Even validated KN95’s deliver less than 80% protection on average and between 50% to 70% on 30% of wearers.

@KimShoeCrzy @__sorrry You should skip the KN95’s. Even the ones with validated filters don’t fit the majority well enough to provide 75% or better protection because of the leakage. In many cases they are under 50%. The design doesn’t actually work.

@jcl68nyr @denise_dewald Try the Shawmut Protex SR9520 on project n95. It is the most secure fitting and comfortable N95 on the market. Comes in M/L and small sizes.

@maskupmelb @fmasqs @masknerd @AbraarKaran @StanfordHealth Yes. The fit capability on those masks overall is terrible based on the data we have collected. You would be lucky to achieve 80% protection wearing the typical KN95 regardless how good the filter is. Many people get 50% or less from them.

@masknerd @AbraarKaran @StanfordHealth Some N95’s fit better than others. if you are immuno compromised or elderly, using a mask like this that has a decent chance of performing in the 80’s or 70’s in a hospital waiting room, on public transit, or an airport is playing Russian roulette.

@masknerd @AbraarKaran @StanfordHealth We are in the process of performing an ASTM F3407 fit capability test assessment on the VFlex 1804. Just 35% (7 out 19) panelists passing so far and 16% showed TIL of 10% or more. Bad choice for people who need protection and can’t get fit tested.
