Whatever your politics this is an incredible own goal for the UK. Ruining fantastic institutions just for an accounting shortcut to "reduce immigration numbers" to appease the far right. It is complete maddness

@UoS_Medicine has moved up a place in the @phreportcard 2024 rankings. Retaining an 'A' for curriculum and improving our other scores. Fantastic work from our students to complete it. Excited to act upon the opportunities for improvement. https://t.co/9WDRWlYCNp
Worked hard in own time with zero budget
Responded to comments of (unpaid) reviewers
Finally accepted! Hooray!
The reward? Asked to pay the journal $3000 for open access so people can actually read our work.
Academic publishing really is the biggest scam out there
Have a read of my interview published today with @EMJInnovations, discussing the integration of planetary health into the medical curriculum and our work @UoS_Medicine

"Mr Rodney Hogg said we were pathetic and hopeless. So that was our inspiration, we wanted to show the world we are not pathetic.
"And I must ask him, are these muscles big enough for him?"

Invasive fungal infection affects 6.5 MILLION people each year of which 3.7 million die.
Yet research into fungal infection is grossly underfunded - just a tiny fraction compared to the study of bacterial or viral disease.
This needs to change.

Pleasure to present with student and colleague Lydia Holtegrew. Another @UoS_Medicine student paving the way for more planetary health teaching in the uk medical curriculum.
Super work from @UoS_Medicine students presenting their medical education audit of public, global and planetary health at the Wessex Medical Education conference today.
The #ClimateEmergency is real. The human impacts are alarming. But the health message is one of HOPE. We as health professionals can lead the way in communicating the health benefits of climate action to our patients and the public.
